Beautiful Book
My mom loved this book…and so did I! So many amazing artists included here, in one place with nice brief write ups on each.

Excellent book!!!!!
This is fantastic addition to the field of African art. Excellent resource for students, scholars, or anyone interested in African art.

An excellent encyclopedic resource with some oversights
A true labor of love with an ambitions title that will serve generations of scholars and global art lovers for generations to come. Reads like an encyclopedia, and provides wonderful points of departure for further research. While this is a formidable topic to broach, there are some surprising omissions (for example, where is Willem Boshoff? Surely an artist who participated in the Venice Biennale is worthy of inclusion!). Overall, an excellent resource.

Worth every cent!
This book is long overdue. The visual culture and contemporary artists of Africa by enlarge have gone unnoticed in the west. The images, and short write ups are a teaser for those who find the diversity and strength of these artists, remarkable.

Books need to be posted with packaging
Nothing wrong with the product. A great book.My complaint is with the way it was sent out. No packaging, my address etc just stuck to the celephane covering , which had a rip. Amazingly the book was not damaged, pure luck. Very disappointed Amazon.

Good starting point to start an exploration of the African art scene
Good starting point to start an exploration of the African art scene.I'm glad to see some of my favourites: Roger Ballen, Ibrahim El-Salahi (you can see the painting in the book at the Tate Modern in London), and Colette Oluwabamise Omogbai (the painting in the book was one of the best at an exceptional exhibition at the Barbican in London called "Into the Night").Very disappointing omission of my favourite African artist, Nelo Teixeira, and his distinctive "Fragmentos da Chicala" series.(unrelated: it would be great to see a similar book about contemporary Indian artists)
