No matter how I adjusted it during installation, the seat doesn't stand up by itself. If I twist even a little while seated, the hinge covers pop up and the seat starts to slide forward off the mounting bolts. The foam padding under the vinyl is not as smooth as my two older padded seats, but they are so old they were made in the US.

Heavy duty toilet seat
This is a very heavy well made seat. It is strong and not flimsy like others I have purchased for the same price. It's easy to install and easy to clean. It has one minor imperfection, there is a crease in the plastic covering on the seat from the lid being so heavy. But it's not a problem. I'm happy with this purchase.
