30FH - Brass French Horn Transposing Mute

This mute is optimal for student and semi-professional use. Its handstrap allows for convenient transportation as well as a way to switch between stopped and open horn quickly while performing. However, in the mid-to-low ranges, this mute tends to make you sound stuffy and unresponsive. More like there's a sock in your horn, rather than a 65 dollar mute. Overall, a good buy for students that're getting comfortable with their instrument.

Bb and F side of the horn can really scream through this thing!Keeps intonation squareVERY snarly in louder dynamics. Echo horn is a little less effective because of this mute's desire to go nasal, so a hand stop might still work better for that, but in every other stopped circumstance, this is perfect.ALSO! The leather strap is long enough that when you pull the mute out of the bell it does not knock against the bell for quick, quiet mute changes.

Great mute but it came with a slight tear in the cork. Not so much as it affects the sound or tuning, but it didn't come in perfect condition.

Works as advertised, good enough for students. The cork is too slick and the tone isn't good enough for professional use though.

Cost-effective high-quality standard among horn stop mutes. You can pay hundreds more for these and get very little more for the money, and the cheaper ones are just that -- cheap. Tom Crown is a genuine best buy!

Have had a similar stopping mute before - this one also works great. I'll try not to give this one away.

Sounds and feels great. The leather strap is long but can be adjusted.
