This grater is lovely, well-made with long-lasting parts. However, it isn't all that "coarse"; I discovered that raw potato came out in such thin pieces that it tended to stick together a lot more than I'd expected. It was almost like with a microplane. I already had a microplane, and will probably keep looking for a grater more like my old, dull one.

Quality grater.This grater is sharp (be careful). It greats cheese just fine but the sharpness is not much of an advantage with soft cheese as the friction of the cheese on the face of the grater is what generates the resistance. I have not tried to grate hard cheeses or vegetables yet but I'm sure it will slice right through them easily.It is a "course" grater so the grated strips are close to a 1/4" wide.It comes with a plastic snap on cover. Easy enough to clean.

This grater easily cuts medium-hard cheeses like cheddar into thin but wide, curly shreds. The grated cheese has lots of surface area, so the flavor really "pops". I like the plastic cover, since the blades are quite sharp. I hope it keeps an edge over time; the initial quality and performance are excellent.

Best cheese grater I've ever tried (well, I've tried a few). Makes light, flaky shavings that work great with any dish. Extremely sharp -- great for doing what it's supposed to do, but also requires you to watch your fingers.

This grater is wonderful. Looks great, works great (so sharp). Grating cheese is so much easier now. I also like the cover for it when it's not in use.
