love this phone.
I do not use a cell and have only used a landline for a very long time and wanted a portable phone w/o having to go to 5 G or a cell. This looked like the best choice , quality and price and it IS. It is everything the ad says, nice size, volume and other features easy to use and it is excellent quality and has the speaker option and some really nice features i have not had before. I do not know what the 'lock' feature is so didn't rate it. i AM SO GLAD it is what i wanted and even better than i expected so it's a keeper. It charges up fast and lasts a long time too. Can go a good distance with it from the base and don't lose contact with who calling . I am so pleased and sure i will be even more as i get to use the other features that i haven't yet. Very good instruction booklet too.

Can expend to more handsets but it's not automatic
This is my second time buying this phone, first time was about 5 years ago. The base unit no longer charged the phones and one of the handsets would no longer ring. So decided to go with same phone which would give me a spare phone and a second charging unit (and the one phone that doesn't ring but will work other wise).Connected up the new phone and the old ones wouldn't connect... some how I thought it would be automatic with it suppose to handle up to 6 phones but no.Alright, so have to go into the phone's menu. In the bottom right of the display where it says "menu" there is a little button, press that and will be in menu, use the big round button and press down until reach "initial setup", select that with that small button. Now using the gig button again scroll down to "registration", select that. Now press the locator button on the base unit for at least 5 seconds. It will beep or something or maybe nothing, didn't seem consistent. Turn hand set off (hang up) and back on, check for a dial tone and if there is it worked. If not try again. I think it's a matter of timing between selecting "register" and pressing the locate button on the base station. It's a relatively cheap phone price wise but it's functionable. I really don't use any of the features like call block, speed dial or voice mail or such. I have an internet phone line and all of those features are handled that way. The caller ID function works and I do use the speaker phone function to increase the volume of the phone otherwise I think it's not usually loud enough, I just hold it a little further away from my ear and if I need to do something using both hands I can set it down on the table and still hear it and be heard. All in all figure on needing to replace parts of it in 5 years or so. My base unit stopped charging a couple of months ago but the handset charging unit still work, just needed to keep swapping out phones on the charger. One of the phones stop ringing a few weeks ago was a bigger problem, if I had the phone that does ring on the handset charger in the bedroom then couldn't hear it ring. If I did hear the good phone ring and had the non ringer near me I could answer the call with it. Oh well, now I have 3 good phones and can stop using that non ringing phone.Nice thing is the phones do use two standard AAA NiMH Batteries, one of the phones batteries stopped holding a charge and I bought a few of those through Amazon and replaced the old Panasonic batteries. I prefer that over stuff with built in lithium batteries. I have NiMH Batteries that are over 10 years old I still use, just use a slow charger and the batteries last longer. A fast charger can cut battery life by 50%.

INCREDIBLE PANASONIC QUALITYI
I HATE INSTRUCTIONS,WHICH I SKIPPED, SET THIS UP WITH MY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE IN MINUTES. SINCE MY WALL PLUGS ARE NOT FUNCTIONAL, I JUST HOOKED UP ON PHONE BASE DIRECTLY TO THE ROUTER BY THE PHONE WIRE, PUT CATTERIES IN EACH HAND SET AND I WAS SET TO GO. I DID HAVE TO CALL MY HOME PHONE PROVIDER TO FIND OUT WERE TO HOOK UP THE PHONE LINE, AND, BINGO EVERYYTHING WORKED IMMEDIATELY WITH AWSOME SOUND QULITY MADE SOMW CALLS AND RECEIVED SOME CALLS, AND ALL OPERATED PERFECTLY. I DON'T KNOW IF I AM SUPPOSED THE PRICE, BUT UNDER $40!!! AMD TJEY INCLUDED BATTERIES FOR THE HAND SETS! FYI, I LOST MY CELL PHONE AND FRLT LIKE I WAS ON A DESSERT ISLAND AND IF ANYONOE FOUND MY CELL THEY HAD NO ONE TO CALL. ANYWAY, i FOUN MY PHONE AND PUT A LABEL ON THE BACK OF IT WITH MY WIFE'S CELL PHONE NUMBER SAYING THERE WOULD BW A REWARD IF FOUND, AND CALLED HER AND RETURNED MY PHONE. I WAS LOST WOUTOUT A PHONE, AND HAVING THIS HOME PHOONE GAVE ME SOOOOME PEACE OF MIND UNTIL I FOUND MY CELL PHONE. PEACE OF MING FOR UNDER $40! BY THE WAY, WHEN I ORDERED THIS PHONE THAT AFTERNOON, I RECEIVED IT PRIOR TO 8 AM THE VERY NEXT MORNING, READY TO SET UP AND I WAS READY TO USE IT AS IT INCLUDED EVERYTHING I NEEDED TO USE IT! I WOKE UP AND THE PHONE WAS AT MY FRINT DOOR! YAY, AMAZON!!

I purchased this set of Panasonic phones for a relative who still uses a land line. The old Unidens finally gave up the ghost. These are working great, after about 90 days of use.

Best cordless phone but that ain't saying a lot.
The cordless phones of today are junk. At&t brand that I have had always had poor quality reception and fall apart. This is my second batch of Panasonic phones, 2 of the original 3 just stopped working after a few years...primarily buttons stopped working and degrading sound quality. These new ones have good sound quality but cheaper batteries that have to be recharged more often. A passable product but like everything nowadays you get a few years out of them, tops. Throwaway foreign made technology.
