I tracked this dresser's reviews on different sites and it's pretty well liked. The dresser is solid and very attractive- mostly wood except for the backing of the dresser and thin plywood material for drawers. Yes, it's very heavy. The parts are well protected for shipping. The frame was straight forward to assemble BUT there are some errors in manual. The difficulty in assembly is in part the curved nature of the dresser. That means drawers have to be made in a certain orientation. They are not rectangular so you really have to put the pieces together in a certain order. I thought I finished then put the drawers in and they weren't right. So essentially you have right sided three drawers that have to be made differently than left sided three drawers. Took me around 4 hours. More if you don't do it right and have to disassemble something. The screws and stuff are put in a blister pack which is organized very well. They do give extra parts also which is rare. Manual is ok with some errors. I expect this to last for years.

This dresser is very nice. Quality materials and looks nice assembled. It comes with NO directions. I found a video on you tube, however, assembly takes quite a while.

In summary, we had a terrible experience with this item. The dresser instructions were complicated but we were able to plan it out and started without a hitch (my mom is an expert furniture assembler and never met a furniture she couldn't assemble). After about 1 hour (including planning and assembly), we were doing it well, but soon realize that at least one critical piece was missing critical bolts (which should be or embedded in the central panel) for the screws. Without it, the entire piece cannot be held together. This put a damper on our entire nursery organization plan. This dresser was going to be the most important piece of the nursery as many of the baby items would go into this dresser. We also had family come up to help organize given both my husband and I have limited time, but the entire plan was ruined unfortunately. Took us another hour to dissemble and repackage for return. The dresser is also very heavy so I cannot lift while pregnant. I also have to take time from my work to wait for UPS to pick it back up. I would say don't get this dresser since you may end up wasting 4+ hours of your time.

drawer front broke off after a few months. other than that it is very sturdy and looks great.

Ok,,, I believe the reviewers and agree that once this is put together it is a solid, attractive product. However, make sure you have plenty of time (hours) to assemble this product. It comes in a completely flat box and nothing is assembled. My wife spent a couple hours each day for approximately a week while I was at work putting this together. It is made in Vietnam, and I guess they had to ship it completely disassembled to make a profit. If you make over 10 dollars an hour you will be better served by buying a competing product that is at least partially assembled. You even have to build each drawer and attach all drawer hardware to the side panels. I would have gladly paid more to avoid the crazy assembly process.

As others have stated - set aside an afternoon to put this together! It was not difficult by any means, there are just a lot of pieces to put together. As long as you mentally prepare to be building this for about 3 hours you'll be fine. That being said, don't let that disuade your decision to purchase. For the price, this is a good, sturdy dresser. It's definitely not Ikea quality in terms of having the cardboard lining internally. This "wood" is definitely stronger, heavier and seems like it will last much longer.

We bought the convertible crib from the Rowen collection for our baby boy (which is gorgeous by the way), but I wasn't thrilled with the matching dresser from the same collection. We ended up purchasing the dresser from this collection since they are the same color and because I prefer the style. I was worried that the black espresso would be too dark, but it is a nice deep brown and matches the other espresso furniture in our home. It made it through the shipping process without even a little scratch. I had read reviews from other websites which mentioned how hard it is to assemble and had read that there is a YouTube video which explains how to put it together. My husband found this helpful. It still took him approximately four hours to assemble, but the end result is great! It is heavy and sturdy wood. The drawers slide nicely and stay closed. It is a surprisingly quality piece of furniture for the price. I did , however, discover after buying this dresser on Amazon that it is currently about $20 cheaper at Target.

I was worried about buying such a big item on Amazon, but it worked out great. It's a nice and sturdy piece, good espresso color, good quality, arrived in great condition. I can't speak for how easy/hard it was to put together because my dad was in town and took on this project. It is for my 9 year old son, so I was also worried because it seemed a lot of people used this as a baby changing table, but it looks great in his room! Very happy with this purchase!
