Controllers are awful
The controllers.... oh lord. I'm still waiting on a solution from Activision, but I doubt I'll even get one. The controllers have some sort of strum switch issue that there seems to be no fix for in the near future (or at all). On one of the guitars, the strum bar only works when strumming up (right-handed). The other controller is intermittent with strumming either direction. Online support has been of no assistance. I was able to get one controller to mostly work after desoldering the switches and soldering the switches from a GH3 controller. Seems like the only way someone can enjoy this game is if they are handy with electronics and can solder different switches into their controllers.

Best Guitar Hero Yet.
Fun for the whole family. Granted, I, as a 30 year old man, purchased this as fun for myself; and it does not disappoint. However, I quickly found that my family of all ages enjoys this version. The live crowd effect is nice and very cool! Even for someone like me where I feel some added anxiety when the crowd turns on the player. The best part is the new feature of Guitar Hero Live. The players can play along at their difficulty level against a whole music library that contains more songs than one can ever play through. The program even adds more songs weekly. So for those users that felt that they were gypped of a favorite tune in past versions; have no fear, you can find it in the GH Live library. Honestly, I enjoy this feature so much, I spend most of playing time here. Also nice is the fact that this set comes with two guitars right out of the box; so double your fun! Also available is a microphone for a third player to sign along.

But overall the game play isn't great. The marketing is very misleading
Kudos to the innovative new guitar controller. But overall the game play isn't great. The marketing is very misleading. I bought this game for my wife for Christmas believing all dlc was included with it advertising 500 songs being included vs 40 or so for the original Guitar hero live release. When she opened it we were confused as to why the case just looked like a standard case and the only codes I could find were the $20 in guitar hero cash. Turns out that's how you play your 500 songs. The So called 500 songs are included with all versions of guitar hero live and there is no dlc, no it's freemium style where you have to pay to play the songs. Also knocking a point off for cheaping out on the controllers and using dongles. The Xbox has its own wireless controller tech and on the 360 Activision had no problem licensing it from Microsoft. This time however they cheaped out and decided to just release the same guitar on every console which meant dongles had to be included. But hey it was released in 2015 and we've had dongles for years that you can pair up to 13 devices with so at least you only have to tie up one usb port for 2 guitars right? Wrong this game ties up 2 of your 3 xbox one USB ports. Unacceptable in this day and age.So all that aside hows the gameplay? Not great to be honest. I do like the new guitar style with actual frets and cords but the main mode is reminiscent of sega cd with live actors and you don't actually feel like you're part of the band like you did on the classic guitar hero games. The tv mode in which all your "500 included songs" are on is all music videos. You can jump in and just start playing whats on and earn cash to buy on demand plays, or you can spend your guitar hero cash for on demand plays. Overall if I had to do it again I would have got Rock Band 4. I was a big fan of the Guitar hero series last generation and Rock Band 4 looks more of what I was looking for!I don't think the game is completely terrible. But it's very mediocre

fun game
Great game the career mode is kina short but the play list on guitar hero tv is huge. The play list contains over 500 songs from very genre of music from heavy metal to pop to hip hop. The guitar controllers a a little small for a full grown adult and they have changed the control scheme from the previous games but you will get used to it in a couple of songs. The new mod of guitar hero tv is kind of like old school MTV in that it plays random videos of the songs from the Playlist and you get to play along with them. You can also play any song you want at any time but it costs you hero points ( in game currancy) so you have to play a few random songs to build up some cash. All in all a great game and a good way to have fun with friends and faamily

Just get Rock Band
The game is fun I suppose, but it was a huge pain in the butt to pair the guitars and the stupid things disconnect all the time and we’ve lost and found the dongles twice. I was expecting the multiplayer to be similar to older versions, but it’s not and it sucks. Glad I got it when it was on sale...

ROCKIN GOOD TIME
This was WAY better than the previous versions. The setting selection is great and the fact that it's realistic instead of cartoon when you're on stage is a HUGE improvement. It's super cool to be on stage "live" with the actual band. It's so funny too because when you mess up they start giving you dirty looks, lol. My kids and husband play for hours and I love jamming out with them. The guitars are a little different than before so I recommend doing the tutorial, but they're not hard to get used to. This set is totally worth the price.

The new Guitar is NOT and improvement
As a fan of the original Guitar Hero games I was very excited to purchase this edition for my husband for Father's Day. The guitar is very different from the original guitars and takes quite a bit to get used to. I am not a fan of the button layout now as it gets confusing when you are going fast. The gameplay is different in that there are actors playing your "bandmates" and not the original computer animated avatars and you are expected to play an entire set nonstop without any type of break. The song selection is good and diverse, but the Live area is very confusing. Also, I don;t like that you have to purchase certain songs in the Live area. I guess I just miss the old game. It is pretty fun though, and once you get the guitar buttons down you can have a blast with your friends.
