Definitely a great hatchet axe.
I have always used axes but needed something tough and not as heavy as a full size fireman style axe. This is a well designed hatchet. All axes and hatchets are thicker when new. So, you will have to constantly file the blade over time. That’s maintenance. The filing will thin the blade and will make it sharper. The more you use it and file it, it will become almost razor sharp. I recommend this axe.

Great for the price, good quality
If you have a friend who needs one it would make a great present.

It's a fiberglass handled hatchet
Good weight, comfortable grip and a sharp blade.

Made nicely
Decent quality and balanced well. Does need to be sharpened better though I suspect it doesn’t come too sharp for shipping reasons.

DULL!!!
The weight and heft are adequate, but tbh, I have sharper butter knives! I have sharper steak knives! If I were trying to start a fire and had to shave some kindling, I would have a better option using my EDC knife! If I tried to feather or shave any wood in an emergency, I'd seriously be in trouble! To get a sharp edge, I need to use a rotary tool. I've tried to use a puck and it didn't make much of a difference from where I started.

no edge, is dull as if the factory did not sharpen the blade?
I bought for small roots, suckers that need to be chopped out, this little axe is really nice but the blade has no edge, old axes need sharpening after some use, not brand new ones.

Would not buy again
This hatchet is built well, but it is really too small to split wood, and the blade isn't that sharp from the factory. I would not buy again.
