Yes, it was tested with positive results. Haven't used it in an emergency situation, however when tested it was very bright. I actually strapped it to my manual inflator tube which is located inside my auto inflatable life vest. This way when the life vest inflates after hitting the water, the light is exposed and activated when it touches the water.

Exactly what I needed for my Mustang Survival Float Coat life preservers! In the photos you can see I mounted it on the shoulder. I ended up getting another one for my spouse's jacket.I read that they can go off unexpectedly, but I've been in heavy rain and water spray and it hasn't happened yet. I couldn't find anything else like these. They're worth it if you ever go in at night.

I bought 2 of these for my offshore sailing. One was fine, the other arrived without the necessary clip that would attach the light to a vest, harness, or other user device. Corresponded with both ACR reps and Amazon. both blamed each other and neither would replace or even send the clip. Very dissappointing given the low cost of the unit.
