Really is a very cool gift for someone who likes to doodle, keeps a journal, or as a keepsake that looks aged and cool. Gave it to my 10 year old niece for Christmas and she was like, "wow, cool!" So in the end we were both happy about the gift and we all know how difficult it is to get a response from a kid with a pile of gifts to go through. Usually it's like, "okay, next!"

Amazing quality at an affordable price. The leather cover is just the right thickness to be strong yet flexible. The embossing is deep into the leather and gives it that rich look and feel you are looking for. The small stone in the center sets it all off. Since it it refillable, I will be using this for years to come. Thank you for such a nice item I will cherish for a very long time

Leather is very nice, a bit sturdy without being overly thick. Stitching at edges seems nice. Paper is pretty basic, a bit rough but if you don't like the paper, simply replace with whatever you want inside so long as it fits in the pockets. Front and back cover have pockets that the cover of the book slips into allowing you to have whatever you want covered.The drawback is the closure string. It's long enough to wrap around the book with only about 1" to spare to you have to fight with it to get it to wrap around the string a few times so it doesn't come open. It's also very very thin leather string that with not much use looks like it will start to break and then you have no closure. Would be better with a little thicker and definitely another couple inches longer strap for closing.The embossing on the cover is lovely and well done and sure seems like real leather and not that fake junk.Smell - not over powering at all nor does the tanning seem to be leaching off on anything.So other than the strap it's really nice.

It's pretty. Unusual and has the tree of life on it which is why I chose it as a gift for may friend. It arrived promptly but Amazon sort of dropped the ball because I could not include a gift message and my friend didn't know who sent it. anyway, she is very pleased with it

This is a great journal. Love the leather and little stone.. .Makes you want to run your fingers over it. Not as many pages as I thought ....BUT, that's OK. When I write and illustrate my book, it will be just the right size. Very happy. I know it takes allot of work to built these hand bound books. So, I appreciate the work that went into building.

I was very excited to get this journal, as I had looked at several options prior and hadn't quite found what I was looking for, my criteria were simple.A leather cover with a lay-flat binding, and a 100% cotton paper.Cotton paper, because of it is incredible durability and flexibility, and the feel of the paper itself is soft. While the text advertised a 100% cotton paper it is a far heavier weight than what I expected, and I can't check the watermarks to verify this.The thicker weight would not have been an issue if not for the binding. Instead of doing multiple signatures for a thicker paper everything is sandwiched in and held in two stitches. It will never lay flat.The largest redeeming grace of this book, however, is that it is a refillable book, so as long as the book is of the proper size, I can replace the insert. The leather is a rich color, and the design is what I expected aside from being a little bit off center.

This journal is absolutely beautiful! I wanted a leather bound sketchbook and this is perfect. When I run out of space I can refill it with whatever paper I want as long as it fits. The only negative thing I can say is that markers bleed through very quickly on the paper that comes with this, but as I said you can refill this with whatever paper best suits you.
