I was looking to upgrade my studio microphone and got a recommendation from ChatGPT after explaining the downsides of my previous mic. I ended up getting the WA-87 R2 — a truly professional microphone on par with the Neumann U87, and even warmer in tone! Highly recommended! One important tip: don’t sing too close to it — unlike many other mics, this one performs best with a bit of distance. The sound is warm, smooth, and very easy to mix. It also offers great flexibility, including options like face-to-face recording and more. Value for money!! Build quality +++AAA+++ BEST Accessories!!

Clearly lives up to the company name, Warm. When compared to other more clinically accurate mics, this has a certain magic the others don't. At first, I wasn't sure I liked it, but then we did some vocal tracks and during the mix, everyone in the studio agreed it sounded awesome when compared to my other "favorite" mics. Point is don't just A/B with your other "favorite" mic. Record something with both and then drop them one at a time into the mix. That's when I heard the difference and it was delightful. I'm sure ya'll want to know how it sounds when compared to it's inspiration, the Neumann U-87. Wish I could tell you. That mic is so far out of my price range I may NEVER be able to A/B them. Suffice to say, this mic has moved straight to the top of my favorite list. I've used it on vocals, piano, acoustic guitar and electric guitar and it just sounds great!! If the regular price is stressing your budget, keep an eye out for sale prices and the occasional "used - like new" deals. You may be able to find a great price like I did.

Not sure what to say, it's a high quality condenser mic. I spent several hours listening to mic shootouts to decide on the sound I wanted, and was almost sold on the old version of this mic. When the R2 went on sale, I bought it immediately. Check out some youtube videos, and if you like it, go for it. For me it was either this or the SM7B, and I figured I'd rather have a $600 more versatile mic than a $400 fiddly annoying mic that needs $200 worth of equipment to make work. I use it for both vocals and speaking. It does great.
