Magic Rocks
I had Magic Rocks as a child. When I saw them on Amazon I felt like a kid again. And No, I didn’t purchase them for myself, but for my grandson. 9 yrs old. He enjoyed them very much.

Best Freebie Ever
I ordered Magic Rocks for my little granddaughters (was excited to discover they still made them!) but it turns out that your free gift was the highlight of the purchase. Just want to say that my husband, the theoretical mathematician and total geek, was absolutely blown away by the science fact sheet that you included in the package. Thanks!

The crystals grew well, though the directions mentioned adding them in two batches and I had almost no growth with the second batch of rocks. I was concerned about dumping out the water and refilling, but the crystals were quite study. The only ones that broke were the crystals that formed on the surface of the liquid.Looking at some of the other comments they mentioned crystals not growing much, or dissolving. Most of my crystals grew to the top of the liquid. I've replaced the water a couple times since growing them initially, but I haven't seen any noticeable dissolving even with the more delicate crystals.

Blast from the past
I had these when I was a kid so I wanted my grandkids to experience it.

Meh.
These are fun, at least insomuch as they do grow within an hour or so and the kids can see the progress. I bought them for my toddler nephews because I remember enjoying them as a child--anything that grows was magical to watch. But like most toys, the picture is not what you're going to get. You are not going to get an enchanted stalagmite forest of many colors, crowded with brilliant craggy formations. And if your kids are not morons, they will notice the disparity--my two-year-old nephew was like, "I feel betrayed." Not in those words, but still. The other thing is that the chemical slurry involved in getting these things growing is totally toxic, so the kids can't exactly help. I think maybe this toy was perfect for the 70s, but is kind of coming to the natural end of its life span. Here in the future, we need toys the kids can touch without dying, and we demand more impressive results because we have the technology! This is a nostalgia-based product like sea monkeys, which are also billed as looking like little man-kings, but are actually tiny brine shrimp flitting like dust motes. (I do, however, still feel very loyal to the sea monkeys and bought a second set after my nephew poured them down a rut in the sidewalk because he felt they wanted to go to the park).

Disappointed
Very disappointed. Bought this for my grandson for his birthday. The directions never said when or where to put the decals. The rocks barely grew and the product was a waste of money.

Classic good fun activity, following instructions very important
Fun and easy just like it was in the 80s, I had fun with the family and shared a good time, instant results like within a minute and a half!
