Have using this in school, this takes a beating well. The reviews complaining on it not being flat or sturdy enough for writing are wrong. This is pretty good. Slightly overprice though.

I bought this to use as a camp counselor to hold my papers and notes about a year ago. Since then, I have found so many uses for this. I've used it in my classroom, to organize materials for my senior project, doing homework outside, or just sitting on the couch at home working on something. The clipboard holds roughly two legal pads worth of paper without bulging or warping. After about a year of use, everything about the clipboard works the same as the day I bought it. The clasp still holds securely, the clip still snaps shut, and there are no chips or breaks (although there are plenty of scratches from being dropped on pavement multiple times).I do have two complaints. For one, the pen holder is kinda a disappointment. It's just this little piece of plastic in the middle of the inside. It doesn't really "hold" the pen, it just prevents it from sliding around the inside. It really only holds one pen or pencil, so if you're like me and constantly lose pens and pencils, keep extras elsewhere on your person. Also, it can only hold thinner pens/pencils. Thicker pens will get stuck. My other complaint is that I wish the clip held with more friction. Papers (especially larger stacks or pads) slide out from under it a little too easily for my taste.However, these complaints don't really detract too much from my rating. This is a sturdy clipboard that holds up well to abuse and did exactly what I needed to it do: hold on to my papers and help keep me organized.

So my cats love to vomit right on important things of mine- keyboards, work papers, etc. I use this to protect my key work papers and it works really well. I don't need a lot of storage space, just that it protects from liquid dropped from above, and it does.

I like that it can stand upright.Other than that, it will not work for me for two reasons:1) The latch broke on first time opening - nothing was forced, it just came completely off, and am unable to reattach it.2) It is narrower than I needed - the outer width is < 9.5 - it is more like 9 3/8 The inner width is about 9. I needed an inner width of 9.5 - I should have paid closer attention there.

This has been a very useful item in my college career. I began using legal pads for notes and this thing fits about 4 of them! It is slim so I no longer had a hefty 5 subject notebook to lug around and could only carry the subjects that I wanted to. This has also been helpful on small desks when I have something else in front of me and this in my arms. Back when I did not have a case on my tablet, I was also able to place it in the storage of this clipboard with a couple legal pads and a writing instrument.It could still fit with a rugged case, but with nothing else but a writing instrument, or perhaps a couple of junior legal pads or other smaller pads of paperA great item nonetheless.I did take a star off because some of the plastic on the item is sharp. I have filed those sharp places down with a nail file so now it is a-okay!

These cases are excellent quality!! My first one lasted thirteen years. Definitely a good purchase.

Be advised if you use this people will think you are involved in some sort of compliance or checklisting. Because who carries a clipboard WITH storage??? It is definitely practical

This is an excellent storage clipboard. The main hinge is a "real" hinge with barrels moulded into each side of the case and a metal pin to hold it together. Although thin, it will still close and latch with few "fat" Crayola markers inside. There isn't a place outside to put a pen or a marker. (The hymnal rack on the back of the pew works fine as a supply holder during church, and the cup holder is sufficient for the car.)The latch has popped off a few times when Baby Destructo has played with it too aggressively. It pops right back on, and I doubt this would be a problem under normal use. (Babies are surprisingly strong.) Ideally, Dexas would make the hinge on the clip as robust as the main hinge.The clipboard is light, easy for my 2 year old to manage, and fits in the diaper bag. I would love to have a "half size" (6"x9") version for the future when we are no longer hauling around a tote bag full of supplies.

Very good item to use at my work, handy storage area to keep items free from damage until you need to use them, very good quality item.

Pleasantly surprised with the quality and design. While I have only used the clipboard briefly, it seems tough enough to handle my daily requirements keeping invoices and files organized, often moving from vehicle to equipment to office. I am a bit concerned how it will stand up during extremely cold conditions, but I was careful with the storage clip during a recent -30 F stretch, and it survived. Very pleased with the item.

Ideal to keep the paperwork you need at hand. Little expensive. But doe's the job. Definitely buy again when the time calls for it.

This clipboard is sturdy and its inner component holds a lot of sheets. Even when dropped, the latch is pretty secure - the items don’t all drop out. Good quality overall and very handy.
