Pricey but excellent SPF with extras.
For reference, I have quite dry sensitive skin that I particularly struggle with in the colder months (living in the high desert certainly doesn't help!). I struggle with keeping my skin hydrated and can sometimes get red flaky patches. I'm also very fair skinned and am always on the lookout for new SPF products.Using "clean" makeup and skincare is a priority for me. I try my best to avoid any potentially harmful ingredients in the products that I use. For this reason, in particular, I was drawn to this Multimodal Defender SPF 30 from U Beauty. The key ingredients are vitamin C, zinc oxide, hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, shea butter, jojoba and almond oils. Here is a full list of the ingredients for your consideration:Active Ingredient: ZINC OXIDE ………20.4% Inactive Ingredients: SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS SEED OIL (SIMMONDSIA CHINENSIS (JOJOBA) SEED OIL), PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS OIL (PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS (SWEET ALMOND) OIL), BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII BUTTER (BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII (SHEA BUTTER)), CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, CERA ALBA (BEESWAX), POLYMETHYLSILSESQUIOXANE, HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, METHYLDIHYDROJASMONATE, TOCOPHEROL, DIMETHYLMETHOXY CHROMANYL PALMITATE, PROPYLENE CARBONATE, ASCORBYL TETRAISOPALMITATE, AQUA (WATER), SODIUM ASCORBYL PHOSPHATE, LINOLEIC ACID, OLEIC ACID, POLYSORBATE 20, PALMITIC ACID, ACACIA DECURRENS/JOJOBA/SUNFLOWER SEED CERA/POLYGLYCERYL-3 ESTERS (ACACIA DECURRENS/JOJOBA/SUNFLOWER SEED WAX/POLYGLYCERYL-3 ESTERS), STEARIC ACID, SUPEROXIDE DISMUTASE, XANTHAN GUM, GLYCOLIC ACID, GLUTATHIONE, LACTOBIONIC ACID, HYDROLYZED HYALURONIC ACID, SODIUM HYALURONATE, MANDELIC ACID, LINOLENIC ACID, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, N-PROLYL PALMITOYL TRIPEPTIDE-56 ACETATE, LECITHIN, POLYGLYCERYL-3 POLYRICINOLEATE, POLYHYDROXYSTEARIC ACID, ISOSTEARIC ACID, STEARALKONIUM BENTONITE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, PHENOXYETHANOLThe packaging itself is very beautiful and luxurious, as you would expect for a product at this price. It comes in a sturdy white box and the cream itself is in a frosted white glass tub with minimal labeling. A white plastic lid fits securely atop. A small spatula is included for dispensing.I have added this Multimodal Defender SPF 30 to my morning skincare routine and am very happy with the results. The cream is very thick and nourishing. It does have a bit of a white cast but absorbs quickly (I'm very pale so a white cast isn't that noticeable on my complexion - may be an issue on darker skin). I use this as the last step of my skincare routine, just before I apply my makeup. It layers really nicely under my makeup. This cream feels luxuriously moisturizing and nourishing to my skin. My skin feels so soft after using this. My sensitive skin hasn't had any redness as a response to using this cream.I really appreciate that in addition to all the skincare benefiting ingredients, this has an SPF. A fantastic moisturizer and sunscreen in one. This is definitely a pricey cream but I'm really happy with it and will continue to keep it as part of my morning skincare routine. I highly recommend it!

best of both worlds
I have to admit I don't always like putting on sunscreen, *gasp*, yes! It is too many steps on top of my makeup routine or most sunscreens feel heavy, leaves a white cast, funny chemical smell, the list goes on. I'm glad this cream allows me to cut down on one step yet does a great job of providing moisture and sun protection. It is quite thick, which I was kind of expecting from a product with SPF, and does require a bit of rubbing and spreading throughout your face. I recommend using a teeny tiny bit and applying on your face first, then adding more as needed. I feel this is less overwhelming than getting a big glob of product and trying to disperse, mixed with not wanting to waste product, so you end up feeling like a white greaseball. A light layer is what I like best. Once it dries, it feels comfortable.I wouldn't get this solely for removing sun spots nor would I get this solely as a facial sunscreen, however, this seems to be something that meets in the middle of both worlds. If you can splurge a little, I do recommend giving this and other U Beauty products a try.I didn't see the ingredients list posted on this page yet so here it is:Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil), Butyrospermum Parkii Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)), Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Methyldihydrojasmonate, Tocopherol, Dimethylmethoxy Chromanyl Palmitate, Propylene Carbonate, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Aqua (Water), Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Linoleic Acid, Oleic Acid, Polysorbate 20, Palmitic Acid, Acacia Decurrens/Jojoba/Sunflower Seed Cera/Polyglyceryl-3 Esters (Acacia Decurrens/Jojoba/Sunflower Seed Wax/Polyglyceryl-3 Esters), Stearic Acid, Superoxide Dismutase, Xanthan Gum, Glycolic Acid, Glutathione, Lactobionic Acid, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Mandelic Acid, Linolenic Acid, Pentylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, N-Prolyl Palmitoyl Tripeptide-56 Acetate, Lecithin, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Isostearic Acid, Stearalkonium Bentonite, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol.

A thick cream that leaves a slightly greasy skin
Solid packaging protecting the white pasty material. As I spread the cream, it smells lightly like a medicine, and it is pasty requiring massaging the area, I do use it in the face and neck. There was a light sensation of heat in the skin the first few times I used it as a reaction in the following 10 minutes as it was absorbed by the skin after application. After 2 weeks I don't feel the heat anymore as I apply it, however, I stopped using it because it leaves me with a strange sensation and VERY small pieces of skin peeling off. From the mornings after I started using it, to the following weeks the change is significant. Before the skin looked and felt refreshed and tighter. After a couple of weeks, the skin feels that there is an extra layer than needs to come off, so I started to peel in very small pieces, not like sun burn. This cream has an interesting characteristic, as it is supposed to be used as sun block and as night cream, those are two totally different environments for the skin, how could it be right for all skin types and in different weather regions? In fact, it didn't deliver the desired resultsConsidering its price, around $170, I am going to take a break from it and later on try to use it only as a night cream.

Too thick, very heavy and hard to absorb
This is obviously a very high end cream with many benefits but it just feels too thick and heavy on my skin. If it was a thinner consistency, it would be amazing. It takes quite a bit of work to spread it on your skin and get it to absorb and it just feels too heavy for me.
