I've been drinking Yerba Mate tea on and off for many years. So far my favorite brand has been EcoTeas for its smooth flavor that is not tart or acidic at all. This YerBalance tea is right up there with EcoTeas, and while the flavor on this one isn't quite as smooth, it is a hint stronger and richer than the other brand. Not only does the tea taste good but it does help with mental focus and staying alert as it does also contain caffeine. It is loose tea, and as it states in the listing the tea leaf is cut a bit larger which is really nice because you don't have all the tea dust that sometimes falls through the strainer into your tea.This is a large bag of organic Yerba Mate tea from Brazil, the bag is 1.1 pounds. It is full to the brim so this is a bag of tea that should last for awhile. The bag this tea comes in has a strip you pull off the top to open, and then you can seal it back up with a zipper style closure on the inside. At first it's a little hard to seal because the bag is so full with tea that it comes almost right up to the zipper. But I did get it sealed and appreciate the bag being full and being able to look forward to many mornings of this wonderful tea. The shelf life on this tea is generous, it is mid January 2022 that I received this tea, and its "best by" date is October 2023.Overall I think this is an excellent tea which I recommend trying. This Yerba Mate is an easy to drink tea and is good with or without sweetener.

According to Amazon, I've purchased this mate 42 times, and I would bet I've purchased over 200 bags of it in the last few years. Here's the thing -- this mate is wildly inconsistent. When it's good, it's really good: not bitter, no dust, flavor doesn't wash out quickly, and so on. But recently I've thrown out more bags than I've consumed because the flavor is revolting -- bitter and "off". I cannot for the life of me figure out why some bags are good and some are terrible. I just opened, and this is not hyperbole, 10 bags -- just to get one that is not disgusting. I'll keep buying this until I find a consistently good version, but just know it's a roulette game when it comes to taste.

I don't drink Yerba Mate for the flavor, I drink it for the energy, but I do like the earthy, subtle taste of this Mate. I've tried various brands of Mate over the years, and this is right up there with my favorite- Guyakai. I find that drinking yerba mate during the day helps me cut back my coffee habit without losing energy, and I can stay focused without jitters.I brew this tea in a tea strainer, I don't have a gourd for Mate yet. The leaf pieces plump up nicely, and this tea doesn't leave many particles behind in the brewing container.
