Blackwelder Coffee, 100% Arabica Espresso Whole Bean Coffee, Fresh Roasted Coffee Beans 32oz (2lb) Bag | Rich Taste, Perfect Crema Finish

After recently purchasing my first espresso machine, I was in search of the perfect espresso brand and roaster. I kept falling short and experimenting with brands that were either too bitter and without the flavor I was seeking. I was intrigued with Blackwelder Coffee and reached out to the roaster. Patrick called me back and answered all of my questions and I then felt confident to order my first bag. These espresso beans DID NOT disappoint and were exactly what I was looking for. Perfect flavor with hints of caramel and best crema I have ever gotten from a bean in my short time of my espresso journey. Thank you Patrick for your excellent customer service. I like the beans although I prefer the espresso beans that have more of a reddish color. But this is a smooth coffee (not bitter) and makes a nice espresso with good crema when ground properly!

I've been roasting my own coffee for over 5 years and was a barista years ago in Italy. About 2 months ago my roaster broke so I started looking for 100% Arabica beans that had the flavor profile that I use to roast (Brazilian. Guatemalan, and Sumatra). I only drink espresso drinks. I looked through many espresso beans and found Blackwelder. This coffee is great for any espresso drinks with great body and lots of cream. I highly recommend it.

This is a great coffee if you drink only espresso, but if you like Milk based drink like I do, it won’t work for you , it’s so weak that you won’t be tasting coffee at all, it’s like drinking hot milk :-(.

After trying five or six different brands, Blackwelder suits my taste the best. It has a wonderful odor and the taste is not bitter. I use very little coffee and store the beans in a glass mason jar to prevent oxidation. I plan to try other blends from Blackwelder as the company seems to produce an excellent product. The beans from Amazon were fresh, that is a month or two after roasting. They come sealed in an air proof bag with the small round vent to allow gases to escape.

I have a rancillio silvia espresso machine, so it's all manual and things at time vary. Some shots are better than others, because of my lack of expertise....so I tend to be pretty forgiving of the coffee I use at times; or for that matter not to overly impressed, in case I get lucky and do everything right. I just got the blackwelder espresso and made a gibralter; of course tasted the shots straight before adding any milk.......the shots were great! Super color and layers; taste was strong and yet not bitter; very pleased and satisfied.

I've been searching for a roast that has a big bite like Italian Roast but full and carmel-ful, like classic espressos like the big Italian brands. This turned out not to be that, but it's still a delicious medium roast espresso. If you like your espresso more toward smooth drip coffee — or the mildest dark chocolate — and less toward something like cuban con leche, this is your roast.

I hate to write this review because the taste and freshness of the coffee are both amazing. However, none of that matters if there are rocks in the beans. Found a small pebble in my grinder only after pieces of rock and metal were falling into the portafilter. Had to completely disassemble the grinder to get it out and some of my upper burrs are now damaged.
