Animorphs continues a long winning streak.
I got this for my son who continues to read his way through the Animorphs series. He started when he was 7 and these were the first books that he totally immersed himself in as in, "Don't bother me. I'm reading." The writing is excellent and imaginative. They are available now only 2nd hand. This arrived in very good condition.

Animorphs #25 (with nerdy analysis!)
The Animorphs go to the North Pole to stop the Yeerks from putting a Kandrona there. Hehe, their Spandex did not hold up too well in Arctic temperatures.Notable moments and inconsistencies:This book was ghostwritten by Jeffrey Zeuhlke.A couple of early language mistakes: this book capitalizes "Android" once for no reason, and accidentally writes "Visser's Three" instead of "Visser Three's."The Venber race is introduced here: An alien species that lived in sub-zero temperatures. Being that they melt above zero, the liquid they melt into is a good superconducter and another ancient race called The Five used them in their computers, as a harvest animal even though they were sentient. Their planet is called Venbea. The Venber that show up in this book are probably hybrids with humans, created and bred by the Yeerks.Ax and Tobias satisfying their hunger by drinking blood in flea morph brings up an interesting question. If they morphed to flea to eat and then morphed back to their natural forms, would it mean they wouldn't be hungry for a while? If they morph back, does "hunger" grow or shrink based on what state they left their morphs in, or would it be dangerous for one of them to expect a satisfactory amount of food for a flea to carry them through once they go back to normal? The Five don't seem to get mentioned in any other books even though Ax suggests they had an important altercation with Andalites in the ancient past. The Andalites are insinuated to have assisted in their complete demise. The character Derek is not as disturbed or as determined to question the Animorphs as most people would be if they saw people turning into animals. The explanation here is that he is an indigenous person and their tribe believes in animal spirits. This is the second time the Animorphs books have done something like this--relegated a witness to non-dangerous status because of some ideal Native naïveté. Most of the time if someone witnesses them morphing or gets in on their secrets, they become a security risk. But people who are rural natives of some kind--in this case, Derek is Inuit--always seem to be ignored as a security risk and assigned an unrealistic, stereotypical local tradition that covers this base. It's read as offensive by some since several times the Animorphs show up in remote lands and meet natives who act like this, and it's especially odd in this case since Derek otherwise seems aware of pop culture references.

Another Animorphs classic - and I thought Rochester was cold!
Marco's bragging added something to the recap intro; either can be kind of stale by themselves, but they blended well.So Marco's dad likes classical music. Interesting piece of canon information. Also, Marco BSing in class fits his sense of humor and helps deal with the academic impact of being an Animorph. Marco's failed date was great comic relief and did a good job of tying together the classical music and BSing points.Marco had a great read of the other Animorphs' personalities. Rachel being referred to in canon as a mall-rat amused me. Jake once eating a whole pie on a dare is a great example of his non-serious side. The Chee covering for the kids in their non-Animorph lives makes sense. I wonder why we don't see more of that.I knew that Andalites not wearing clothes is why it's hard to morph clothes. It's good to see that acknowledged in canon.99 percent waiting around and 1 percent sheer terror? I've heard combat described along those lines, so it was interesting to see the books say that. But - hey! Iron Maiden is not dinosaur rock! They are one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time!Ax impersonating Visser Three was something cool I don't recall hearing much of before.Bitter cold is interesting as a different challenge, the Venber as a new plot device. There was some cool stuff about a Blade ship's internal layout. Why do the human Animorphs insist on using English idioms with Ax? His puzzlement is wholly understandable. I try to avoid using nonstandard English with someone I know isn't a native speaker. Granted, some things are so ingrained that it's hard to avoid them. How morphs fit the extreme cold is a great example of the series' animal information combining with plot points. It's great to see Cassie as the calm one. She's coaxed people to morph and demorph when necessary before. Usually I see Jake as the sensible Animorph because of his tough but necessary decisions.Arctic or Antarctic. Good job, Cassie. Glad someone figured it out. But didn't Ax say you were heading north? Granted, they're all out of it in the cold, and there may have been a change of direction. The book did remember this eventually. I wondered if Andalite senses notice anything unique about the polar regions."Reports of their extinction may have been greatly exaggerated" sounds like Mark Twain's death quote about a premature obituary. Did Ax stumble across that in-character or is KAA passing that off as a coincidence? Is he being funnier lately, is it just more grating in these circumstances, does Marco notice it more than the other POVs?I figured sentience would help them avoid predators while in prey morph, so I was glad to see that addressed in character. The local instantly seemed like he could serve a lot of purposes in the story. Animal spirits would be a good way to fit this new knowledge into his existing framework. The Star Trek analogy (nice to see that again) apparently helped get the truth across. The points about certain sport hunters came in loud and clear. These Venber being a Yeerk computer does explain the resurrection process somewhat - I got it, Ax. Also, it fits with the melted Venber as computer superconductor line, which now seems like foreshadowing.Bug fighters having passenger capacity -of one or two- is good to know. Quick sabotage is the way to go with guerilla warfare. Bird morphs are handy for escaping aircraft.Marco relishing the heat was a funny twist on a heavy reflective ending. The Animorphs weren't responsible for what happened to the Venber, of course, but I can see how that information would hit them hard.Trouble even getting to the base was a good extension of the mission itself. I was surprised at how long it took, that the actual battle was a short conclusion. Yet there was plenty going on; the other stuff wasn't filler. Also, the environmental descriptions were vivid throughout.

Book without a picture
I want this book to have the picture inside like all the rest of the animorphs books I have cause I do not like oddball books that don't Mach with the rest of the series so please send me this book with a picture in it.
