You don’t have to add anything to this potting mix. And I liked the value: bag size for price. I did find a few very large pieces of bark and/or sticks but not many. They can help with drainage at the bottom of the pot. Mix seems clean and not overly dusty when using. Overall, it’s a good mix. Let’s see if it will encourage blooming.

Orchid died so I'm not sure if I'll buy again

Great price for the amount you get. I use for my orchids and also to mix my own custom soil mix that is chunky and well draining for plants that need it.

My orchids love this mixture. The one in the clear pot is a year and a half old. It grew a 2nd spike and bloomed for me this winter, the one in the purple container is new. It's being babies because stores don't take care of their roots. This orchid mix holds just enough moisture and gives the roots air. The roots get moisture from the air so I soak my plants while in this mix for 15 minutes. Then I let it drain. Then I put it back in its pot. I have bought this soil twice and I'll do it again for my next orchid.

I’m known as the Orchid Whisperer amongst my friends and I will say this mix has a lot to do with my success.The first thing I do when the store bought orchid’s flowers die, is repot it into this mix. The bark pieces are large enough that they don’t fall through the holes in my pots and hold up for 2 years if I happen to miss their yearly repotting.
