Great conversation starters, and great reminders to let kids know you care.

I use the Letz Talk product in my special education classroom for daily journal writing. Each morning a student pulls a card, reads it, then the class writes their responses in their journals. Students can sit in the Writer's Chair and share their responses if they wish to. Often a student comes up with his or her own conversation starter question, and writes it on one of the blank cards in the mailbox so that it can be used as well.This product can be used in many other ways as well. I've used it in my social skills lessons to promote listening and empathy skills, and to promote discussions about respect and honesty. I've also used it as a time-filler since it's an easy and helpful way to build a sense of community in our classroom. Additionally, I have had my students and their mentors use the conversation cards with each other as a way of building rapport.
