very good but short
This is a good cd. It's lagwagon as usual. It actually seems like they go back to their old stuff on a couple of songs. All in all it's a great album, but my pet pieve is it's way too short. It only has 6 or 7 songs. Right when you start getting into the cd, it's over. On the other hand, it's better than not getting anything from these guys. Good lyrics and good songwriting as usual.

So long and thanks for all the Tunes...
I hate to say it cause i am a HUGE fan of lagwagon. Almost every single one of their albums is great, but i felt this one was just lacking. You can tell singer Joey Cape just dosent have the fire anymore. His vocal delivery is just bland, he sounds like he'd rather be anywhere else but in the studio singing. The music might not be half bad, its just so hard to get past the lackluster singing, and just general lack of their usual catchiness.

Not bad, but could be better.
I am a huge Lag fan. I have been listening to them for years. I have to say I was a little disppointed. Not only because of the length of the album, but the songs were plain and lacked their usual creativity. If you are a new fan you will probably love it, but people who have a listened to them for 14 years plus may be disappointed.

Mood music
Not as many tracks on this CD as I am used to punk CDs having, but it's quality stuff. The song B-Side gets stuck in my head all of the time. The music is definately punk style, but not harsh or loud. Is there such a thing as relaxing punk? Like if my elevator played punk. Don't get me wrong, it's a great cd to have around! I like to put it in on the drive home after a busy day at work to help me wind down. I have come to use this Lagwagon CD as my go-to cd for background music, before the party really starts, as a transition into the brasher stuff.

A brief review of "I Think My Older Brother Used to Listen to Lagwagon"
I don't write reviews very often, really, ever, but after seeing how low the rating for this EP was, I felt compelled to.Now, Lagwagon has been my favorite band for a few years now. My first record I ever bought by them was Double Plaidnum, followed by Resolve, followed by this, then Blaze, and then the box set. this way, I had a very unusual introduction to the band. I never went to any of their shows in the 90's when they were at the peak of their career, and our older brothers were slam-dancing each other in the pit. So, it's possible I'm biased towards the newer stuff. It seems to me, however, that everyone who pans this EP is extremely biased towards the older stuff. I love ever LW release for what it is, not for what it could have been/would have been. It's no secret that Joey and the boys were entering the middle age well before this EP came out. So, it's considerably slower and, to a point, "softer" than their back catalogue. However, it still has the sound that the band has managed to always preserve. I for one wouldn't want to listen to another seven "Beer Goggles". So fans should be relieved, not disapointed, that the boys from Santa Barbara have matured, even since Resolve. Now, concerning the music, it's nothing short of bona fide Lagwagon. Joey's songwriting is in its natural form. Minor fourths and descending guitar leads abound as usual. The production is standard: stripped down, yet professional sounding. Flippin and Rest keep the melodies flowing, over the backdrop of Jesse's standard bass lines and Dave's pounding drums. The songs themselves are very unique from each other, and everything else Lagwagon has ever done. That's not to say it's experimental: it's just the opposite. It just doesn't sound like a rehash of their older work, something that bands like Strung Out seem to struggle with.In it's own right, every song is enjoyable. "It could have been dull, Kristina/We could have been sane" Joey belts out on the opening track, B-Side, a signature pop-punk Lagwagon tune. Yet, it wouldn't have fit well on any album except this one. None of these songs would. No, not even "Fallen", a literal B-side from Resolve. Errands and Mission Unaccomplished are two top contenders for the "best song", but the remaining four tunes are still pretty bad-ass. In a strange way, the album is better than the sum of its parts. "No Little Pill", while a tight song, just doesn't do well as a stand-alone tune. "Fallen" and "Memoirs and Landmines" are more midtempo, yet concise anthems complimented by surrealist Cape-esque lyrics. The heaviest and slowest song, "Live it Down" is very unique: it is probably one of the oddest tunes Lagwagon has ever done.Joey Cape revealed on his reddit AMA that this was his least favorite release, but that it could've been better it they had worked on it more. Essentially, he claims that it was "rushed". To me, it sounds like the opposite - it sounds like they worked very hard, and nailed everything. The only thing that could be construed as rushed are the lyrics, and even those are nothing to complain about. Joey's lyrics have always been somewhat odd, somewhat random, yet manage to make a point at the end. At least, since his style really started developing in Let's Talk About Feelings. "Hey Dogboy, the wish missiles you deployed/We needed them". Nonsensical lines like this - whether they be references or truly random - don't take away from the whole experience. In short, if you like Lagwagon, there's no reason you won't love this. I always find myself coming back to this EP. If you think this is good, wait til you hear the new album, "Hang". It's truly their magnum opus.

Gewohnt gut
