Learn How To Stay Strong with MS from a Strong Man with MS
I have had MS for a decade and I can say emphatically that movement, stretching and exercise are imperative to surviving all that this crazy disease has to dole out. I have had my period of being in shape and physically active with this disease and my window of being a bump on a log (or rather my couch) thanks to chronic pain that set in. From that, I have learned it is SO much better to KEEP MOVING and David knows that first hand and he has done a great job of putting into a book, exercises that are geared towards helping maximize one's abilities and limit disabilities by getting or staying strong.I have two sons that are competitive powerlifters - one is competing at nationals this fall and the other is studying kinesiology and prides himself in his knowledge of the body and strength training. I was curious what they would think of the book and the information it provides, so I asked them to give it a read and both came back with the response that it was well written, contained good exercises and was easy to understand (not in those EXACT words, but that was the gist of it.) So if I can do the exercises and my "stronger than they should be" sons approve of them, then I consider it a huge win.If you have MS - or another disease that compromises your mobility and/or balance and you have thought about trying to gain some strength back or you are looking to change it up and find new exercises, I would recommend this book. It provides clear instructions on how to get stronger and that is the number one way to fight this crazy disease - by being stronger than it.

Truly the best book for anyone with MS, newly diagnosed or a seasoned veteran.
I have had MS for 28 years (I was 23 when I was first diagnosed), this is by far the best book I have read (for years I avoided reading books because they were all so vague, redundant and useless), until now- Every Day Health and Fitness with MS by David Lyons (or any other auto immune disease for the matter) is second to NONE. So often in the past I met with physical therapists and personal trainers who just didn’t get it and I felt like I was educating the PT and could co better on my own. This book and program have given me the framework and hope/incentive that I need (especially at this lull in my mental and physical presence.) Whether it is because of David's complete understanding of the emotional and physical challenges/opportunities, the success he has had through his incredibly hard work, determination and persistence, or his genuine desire to help others any way he can, this book is the greatest gift I have received in decades……..I can't recommend it more.

For commercial gym use ONLY
2.5 stars would be more accurate. This book, while having some great reviews, is not – as it claims – for everyone. This book is created for commercial gym use ONLY. If you have a vast knowledge of exercise(s), a lot of these exercises can be modified for at-home work but for the most part you will need a lot of commercial equipment, like cable columns. The description for this book needs to be updated to include pertinent information: for commercial gym use only.I think the workouts as written can be effective but this book does not fit my needs. It does not do what it claims as it is not comprehensive and it is not for everybody. There is no work for stability, few to no modifications, nor any exercises/workouts for at-home work. I feel this book would work best for those who are already familiar with exercise and they have not had an MS attack that has incapacitated them. Or have very little to no balance issues. As it stands, I’m considering returning this while looking for something a little more comprehensive.

Poor
The exercise program would have been great 10-30 years ago. For anyone with a disability the book is useless. Save yourself the money and invest in exercise bands. How to comes with them or go online and find all kinds of articles. You can also see a PT or OT specialist. Best of all you can do it from home and get in better shape than this book will do for you. Just Do It!

I highly recommend this book
I highly recommend this book. It is very well written and the author openly shares his experience, successes and challenges. I have found so much inspiration and information from this book. Now motivation. As I learn more and understand more I become less fearful. I thank David Lyons so much for sharing his experiences and his encouragement for moving forward with MS.

Very good book, however not friendly for all There are specific guidelines, for wheel chair users.
Written for those that are able, to walk, and manage working with weight equipment. A lot of pictures. Not for the use of floor weights/movement. Very good book, however not friendly for all. Read Amazon.com reviews.

NOT AS SUGGESTED BY THE TITLE.
Very niche - not only aimed at people with MS, you have to a) want to be a body-builder (rather than just have a level of 'everyday fitness' as per the title) b) not mind religious nonsense interspersed between the discussions (faith is fine if that's your thing, but there's a time and a place, and for those of us of no faith, it's just plain irritating) c) be a member of a gym as it's all excercises on expensive equipment d) other than 'for a wheelchair user', the excercises are not adapted for other forms of MS reduction in mobility, such as stiffness or spacisity.I was looking for a book that would help my general health and fitness using things I might have about the house or be able to easily purchase (eg I have a small balance board which I keep by the sink in the bathroom so I can try and improve balance whilst brushing my teath). The title implied this was the perfect book for that. It isn't.

Worth the Read
I was disappointed that exercise machines that can only be found at a gym have to be used. I can change things up a bit so I can do them with the weights and bench that I have at home. Wish there were more things geared to at home but overall I liked this book.
