Easy to handle, fast cutting, and very good battery endurance
The Good NewsUses and ErgonomicsI use the Hychika 8 inch "pruning" chain saw to rough cut fresh lumber up to 4" x4" , and for cutting tree and plant limbs, as well as branches up to about 5 inches. For me it the saw is easy to handle due to its reasonably ergonomic handle. and relatively good balance. The "affixed" chain debris shield is not cumbersome and easily follows the "cut" without being in the way. The only difficulty I have with the unit's controls arrangement is that the safety button is somewhat difficult to depress in order to pull the trigger and start the saw. Usually I end up pressing the safety button with one hand and pull the trigger with the other. Once the trigger is held and the saw running there's no need to hold the safety trigger until you release the trigger between cuts.TechnicallyGiven it's power/performance the Hychika feels relatively light in weight, has a very fast chain speed (resulting in amazingly fast cutting even in green wood), and a good active pumping oil system driven by the main brushless motor.A couple of problems I've observed with operation is that occasionally the oil passage hole into the chain bar becomes plugged with the cuttings and can only be cleared by removing the bar and chain. Also, the chain tension adjustment is a conventional design using a slotted head adjustment screw. I'd be pleased if the number of screw threads were increased to allow a "fine" adjustment. As is, it's easy to over tension the chain or add too much slack. The overall design of the casing and drive train appears to be quite robust (yes, I lubricate and clean the internal parts as well as the bar and chain). The casing, instead of the usual PVC or ABS plastics is made of a fiberglass filled plastic (strong and rigid compared to some of the competitors housings). The brushless motor and it's drive electronics has functioned "perfectly", accelerating to no load cutting speed at a reasonable pace, maintaining speed at load, (up to overload conditions when it shuts off power to the motor) and also bringing the saw to a quick stop when the trigger is released. The not so goodWhen I first received the saw batteries and single battery charger, I discovered quickly that the charger was defective and would not charge the batteries. However, at that point Hychika service was, accessible, anxious to resolve the problem, and sent a new double battery charger. Since then, no problems with the new charger or batteries.Later in 2022 I had sharpened both chains provided with the saw numerous times, and it become clear thatit was time for a new set of chains. After a number of attempts to obtain service I was finally notified that no chains were available from Hychika. If you are familiar with "standard" chainsaw chain specs (bar length, pitch, # of drive links, and gauge) this issue because a big problem as no chains sold by the hardware and chainsaw dealers had the chain that met all the specifications. Now, a year and a half later ( beginning Jan 25, 2023) note that Seesi makes the exact 8" chain saw chain used by the Hychicka. The Seesi part is available on Amazon. However, the Hychika 8" chain saw is no longer avail through Amazon or Hychika, so getting parts and service will probably be very difficult or impossible.Although, overall I'm very happy with the Hychika 8" pruning chain saw, however, I would recommend for now that those who need a small electric chain saw, purchase from a different manufacturer.

As advertised
Saw is light and easy to use. Cuts limbs with no problems. Checked the reviews and watched the videos on YouTube and was impressed enough to give it a try. One thing, one of the few saws that has an oiler for the chain. It is gravity flow but seems to work. Tried to purchase an extra battery, but they were unavailable online... Contacted the seller and he was good enough to send me an "un-saleable" battery at no charge.Arrived in less than a week and looks and works as good as new. Great customer service and even better response time. Saw is good, Seller is better.

If you crossed a kitten with a chainsaw....and kept the best of both.
Seriously, if you could cross a kitten with a chainsaw, this is what you'd get....in the best way.it's as light and small and quiet as a kitten, but has sharp teeth that can rip deep into anything in a moment. (If you've ever lived with a kitten you KNOW they've got their deadly sharp moments.)It's not much louder than a purring kitten when it cuts into a tree or post... but it probably shakes less than the kitten. It does go through chain oil faster than a kitten eats tuna. The wee bottle they supply will maybe last you a couple of tasks. Its internal tank lasts a few minutes of cutting. I ordered a quart of regular chain oil to keep on hand because I'm going to use this a lot. It's just too convenient a tool not to.I had a bigger gas powered chainsaw, which was pretty slow on cutting anything but small logs and branches. This is much faster at cutting. I do suppose I will need to rest it every so often if I were using it in really big logs for a while, but just cutting down a small tree in my yard... cutting up the posts and 2x4 of old swingset, etc, no problem at all.I am TOTALLY taking this camping to help with firewood collection. It's so light and small i might even use it for backpacking if i were with enough other people...but definitely for paddle camp, car camp, etc. Its so quiet it would not draw much attention from far around in a natural setting, not ruin things for anyone near. This feels so safe because it cuts so smoothly, and is so easy to start and hold and maneuver. The guard helps direct most debris away from my face.I did all the cutting I wanted to in my yard and didn't dent the battery level. It came charged fully and recharged fast. The charging base is very small and light. While I'd love to be all macho and have a big loud chainsaw to impress people how capable and fearless I am... this is simply a better tool.I can't believe the price is so low for how well this tool works, especially compared to the costs of other chainsaws. I will use this in a lot of situations outside where I might have pulled out a sawz-all or a circular saw.I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase.

Good addition to the tool arsenal.
I have tools to fit the application. You purchase the equipment you need to help do your tasks in an efficient manner. There is not one tool to do your jobs well, you need multiple saws/tools for every project. This little saw is a respectable tool that does what it was designed for. I reach for it when the larger chainsaw is just to cumbersome, the extension saw is to long, this one is just right! Having an oiler extends the chain life, it fits well in the hand and the battery has sufficient life to get through until it is break time.Once I find the chain specifications I will post them so everyone knows what chains to look for when it is time for a replacement..

Well worth the money....
I love this chain saw. IT is easy to use and very light weight. I am female and do not have any problems using it. The battery has a very long life. I also like the safety features....

Powerful for the size and good value
I was surprised by how well this small saw worked. Easy to handle safely. You can add bar oil which prolongs the life of the chain. Battery life is good also.
