SINFULLY SEXY, OUTRAGEOUSLY CUTE, AND DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING !!!
Title: Bet MeAuthor: Lila MonroeDesignation: A Full-Length Standalone Contemporary Romantic Comedy, NO CliffhangerReading Platform: Kindle EditionMy Rating: Five Outrageously Cute Stars*****Oh my! I love, love, love this book! This may have been my first time reading Lila Monroe, but it certainly won't be my last! After reading several dark, intense romances, I decided I needed a change of pace. I wanted something upbeat and fun, so a friend recommended Bet Me by Lila Monroe. Her recommendations in the past have always been spot-on, and Bet me was no exception. I loved it! Bet me is an exceptionally well-crafted, laugh-out-loud-funny, standalone contemporary romantic comedy filled to the brim with sass, snark, romance and outrageously cute antics. The narrative is fast-paced and beautifully written in the first person with clearly defined his and her perspectives. The dialogue is smart, cheeky, well-executed and flows effortlessly. I truly enjoyed the premise for this story but my favorite component of this sexy romp is the cast of lively, engaging characters. I was instantly smitten with the two protagonists, Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Ryan and Jake Weston. These two characters complemented each other perfectly. Their attraction was immediate, their passion undeniable, and their sexual chemistry was so hot it sizzled. The interaction between Lizzie and Jake was beyond entertaining. I giggled, snorted and snickered through the entire book. Monroe skillfully combines every single one of these elements to craft a captivating romantic comedy that will keep you glued to your ereader wondering will they or won't they! Did I like this book? No, I LOVED it! Would I recommend it? You bet and I am but only for adult readers. However, I will say this: if you're the type who wants instant gratification and immediately digs out the prize in the cereal or Crackerjack box, this book may not be for you. But if you're like me and can resist the urge to eat your dessert first, and always enjoys saving the best for last, you will most certainly love this story! Will I read this author again? Most definitely! I'm a fan for life! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read.Beautiful Lizzie Ryan is the assistant curator of the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art who loves her job but, now at age thirty, feels life has passed her by after wasting her twenties in a relationship that didn't work out with a man who didn't appreciate her and turned out to be a real jerk. Handsome Jake Weston is a charming but cocky freelance 'finder' who travels the world tracking down and procuring rare and hard-to-find artifacts for museums, antique hounds, and private collectors. Jake is very good at his job and has been engaged by the museum to help Lizzie locate and obtain items for her upcoming exhibit featuring the Golden Age of Hollywood. For the last several weeks, the correspondence between Lizzie and Jake has been solely by email, neither realizing they'd actually met in a bar on New Year's Eve three years earlier when they had a kinda/sorta one night stand. Both were intoxicated but Jake, who had given his name only as Jacob, passed out before the grand finale. Oh my! Needless to say, they were both shocked to learn they had actually met three years earlier. Lizzie is tired of disastrous internet dating site hook-ups and blind dates. She's ready for a real relationship with a man who truly cares for her. So how does Lizzie plan to find that special guy? By refusing to have sex with anyone until she finds 'the one'. And Jake Weston is certainly not and could never be 'the one'. In fact, he's just the opposite of what Lizzie is looking for. He's a love 'em and leave' em type of guy who doesn't believe in love or marriage. And much to her dismay, Jake doesn't even recognize Lizzie during their initial meeting at the museum until after a few not so subtle hints. So why can't she stop thinking about him? When Lizzie's sex-strike rant to her sister is accidentally posted online, it goes viral and her life becomes a circus with every single guy around trying to get her to have sex with them so they can claim a fifty thousand dollar bounty being offered by a well-known men's magazine. And the ensuing antics are absolutely hilarious! And the career bachelor Jake Weston, who never wanted a relationship after having his heart broken years earlier, found himself in an unlikely predicament... He's jealous and wants the lovely Lizzie for himself. But it's impossible, especially now that his friend's magazine has promised a fifty thousand dollar reward to the man who gets Lizzie to break her sex strike? She would think he did it for the money... wouldn't she? We'll see.

Romance Is Not Dead.
4.5🌟’sYou know sometimes when you just want to kick yourself for being stupid? Yeah that’s me right now. I have had this book on my kindle app for ages and it kept getting pushed down with my recent purchases. I was on the hunt for a good funny romcom and saw this one and said let’s do it! And now I want to kick myself that I didn’t read it earlier to give me all the laughs. And being in the current covid lockdown environment, that’s all I want to read at the moment, laughs laughs and more laughs and this one hit the spot.So many things I loved about it, the setting in NYC which is one of my favorite cities I have visited. The heroine Lizzie is someone I would hung with and crack up laughing at all day. The hero, Jake was a little jaded by his parents relationship but he was still extremely adorable. Their first encounter might not be what cements their bond but when they meet up again and have to work together we get to see more of their dynamic which was sweet, funny and the banter kept me up to the wee hours of the night to finish. With Lizzie on strike, and Jake thinking he wasn’t a romantic, most of their interactions are work related but the sexual tension is bubbling up and about to burst like a champagne bottle. I related to Lizzie a lot, we could be twins, I love romance and adore the old classic movies and chivalry should not be dead! And even if Jake didn’t see it right away, I did, he was very swoon worthy, he never took advantage of Lizzie and he definitely had her best interest at heart. He tried to stop the bounty but we can all see where that was going to lead to and he took his punishment well. How they reconciled from that, the way they navigated their own emotions and worked out their dilemma wasn’t forced or over dramatic which I hate, it felt very natural and true to their characters. I love a good epilogue, they have to give me a sense of what their future will be like and I need to know that they are going stay together, and this one did just that.Don’t make the same mistake I did and let this one sit on your shelf unread, pick it up, sit back and have a good laugh at Lizzie and her strike and swoon with the rest of us as Jake protects his girl.

Good Rom Com
Lizzie has no luck with dating via Tinder and her drunken rant ends up on social media Lizzie unwittingly becomes a challenge to men. Her first meeting with Jake is an epic fail but they start working together. Jake is not as bad as she first thought but with a bet on the table can she believe anyrhing he says or does?

Typical: swear off men just as Mr Right turns up....
"And if I’m going to be a sh!tty anecdote for you, I’m going to damn well be the sh!ttiest date you’ve ever been on." There's nothing like ambition when it comes to love goals, right?! A funny book that shows that romance isn't down to money, helicopter rides and weekends in Paris, but thinking about the person you love and driving them crazy while you're at it! From a less than auspicious start (what DO you do when he doesn't recognise you three years after passing out"down there"?), through some highs and lows, Jake and Lizzie make a witty and entertaining couple.

Pointless read
Pointless book! Immature characters, ridiculous story, vulgar language. Full of clichés. Couldn't be bothered to finish it.

Light hearted story
Lizzie is down in the dumps, she is sick of guys who just want the sex with no romance. She decides that she is not having any more sex without the man making an effort to know her. Jake, the very handsome new guy is there to help with her new exhibition and finds out about her quest after Lizzie accidentally puts it on the internet. It's a funny story.

Boring.
I don't understand why this book received 4&5 star ratings. I gave up after reading 30% of this book. It was about as interesting as watching paint dry.
