I'm looking for a thin gold chain necklace to fit my tiny diamond pendant. How wide is the circle opening on this necklace?

I have already lost an emerald and diamond pendant on a chain with a round clasp and a thin chain. Don’t even know if it was the clasp or the chain that was the problem. To get the clasp replaced will cost you around 60 that will not help you if the thin chain breaks. Send you money on a thicker chain with a lobster clasp. Be safe not sorry.

24k gold does not tarnish. 14k gold can tarnish a little because it is an alloy, but is less likely to than 10k gold. Copper oxides appear red-black and silver sulphides appear black. In Nepal, they mainly use a copper alloy so that the gold is more "orange" gold in color. This necklace, however, is not from Nepal. Just am FYI.
