Does the spout close or stay cintinuously open?

The spout stays open, there is no flapper but it does come with a rubber tip that you can cover the spout with when not in use if you choose. The sugar pours nicely and glad I purchased.

THe picture shows 2 of the same size, but another 2 different sizes, which is it?

Would this be suitable for liquid syrups/sauces too?

I'm not sure. I only use it for sugar & other dry items.

Is honey too thick to be used in these?

I will not recommend this Spencer to use for honey
