The perfect 101 for will-be screenwriters
Most would-be screenwriters have a drawer (or a desktop folder) filled with "starts." These are the great ideas we had that we actually took some action on, but ended up dropping before getting through Act I. The first key to success in screenwriting (or any type of writing) is to actually FINISH the script! This book from Scott King gives you a perfect starting place for developing the habit of actually finishing those scripts. It's a good first step for any screenwriter, and gives you some practical advice and pointers right from the start. The style of this book is quirky and engaging, and it lives up to its promise of being a nice "101" for will-be screenwriters. It's worth reading regardless of the type of writing you want to do in your career, and particularly if you want to write screenplays for a living!

Start Here If you are looking to Become a Screenwriter
Scott King's book, Finish The Script, is a great introduction to the art of screenwriting. He lays out very complex ideas in a simple workable manner. He gives a thought-provoking assignment for you to work on then gives honest examples of when he has struggled, and what worked for him to get through whatever obstacle example you may be going through as well. It's a book that brings big ideas into tangible work assignments, so that you can do what the title implores you to do, "Finish The Script!" BTW, He also responds to you thoughtfully on twitter when you have questions, I find that very revealing about his character, I mena that in that the best way. Thank you, Scott!

A very useful little intro to screenwriting
This is a little book compared to the major book in the field, but it has what you need, and it's very helpful. I'd be willing to use this for a textbook in class. What I really hate about this book is the constant use of singular antecedents with plural pronouns. I realize that some authorities find this acceptable, due to a desire to avoid offending women, but the effect is graceless. There are better ways of dealing with the problem, such as using plural antecedents. King's constant use of this renders his prose clunky.

Would Recommend To Newbies
I decided to follow the book’s chapters while developing a script and I had a great time going one by one in each chapter as I wrote my script. Some good tips and writing. Would definitely recommend to someone who needs help with the process of script writing as it gives good instructions.

Inspiring and Fun
I love how the author writes (and re-writes) a sample screenplay in this book, sharing the experience of trial and error, identifying what works and what doesn't. The format is perfect for someone who is actively working on a script; each section explains a step of the process and gives you an assignment as well as an understanding of how to evaluate whether or not you have successfully completed it. Whether you're starting from scratch or wanting to strengthen a script you've worked on previously, "Finish the Script!" will inspire you to do exactly that!

2.5 of 5 stars. Decent intro book, I reckon.
This book isn't a college screenwriting course. If it was/is, then there are much better college screenwriting courses available. That said, it covers the basics and does so pretty basically. You can't expect too much from a thin tome, and this book's a thin one. -- It'd dead average, nothing in it that's not covered in most other screenwriting books. 5/10. Dead average.

Enlightening
I’m more of a prose/poetry writer but decided to read this to practice screenwriting for experience. It teaches a lot of key elements that every writer should include in many other forms outside of screenwriting. Scott King is an excellent writer and I enjoyed this book. If you’re like me and like to make notes and highlights, I’d recommend getting the e-book rather than physical! This way I can access it when I need it. Highly recommend Finish The Script!

ABC of script writing
Best book to start your script writing dream. This book gave me feel that I was attending a class more than reading just pages. Narration is wonderful. It's great gift for me.
