The Vitruvian Man is an iconic work of art and we wanted to adapt the design into our jewelry. In the text that accompanied da Vinci's drawing, it says it was a study of the proportions of a man's body as was described the Roman architect, Vitruvius. According to Vitruvius the human figure was the principal source of proportion among the Classical orders of architecture in the ancient world. It is a representation of da Vinci's attempts to relate man to nature and was subsequently an analogy for the workings of the universe. These earrings make a great graduation gift for students as well as artists, scientists, doctors, nurses and architects. Paired with our signature Art Deco earwires, these unique sterling silver earrings measure just over 1.5 inches in length, including the length of the earwire.
