Q: Should this be used as a pair? Only need for right foot but wonder if it will feel weird to have on only one foot.

Are used it for just one foot for several months. No problem at all. Did not notice any difference in the feel of my shoes. These inserts are terrific.

Q: How can these be both “stiff“ and have “high flexibility”? What does that mean?

This is not contradictory. It has a stiff characteristic, but anything will deform when subjected to force. This insole will generate great elasticity(high flexibility) after deformation under force, to keep it as straight as possible.

Q: I normally wear a size M 8.5 but will be using these in a size10 shoe. What size should I get?

I wear a womens size 8 shoe and purchased the size that fits the shoe. My best guess would be to buy a size that fits the shoe size not your foot. You would not want the orthotic to slide around because it is too small for the shoe.
