11/09/2020Buyer Beware: Bitter Alcohol Taste - Not Coconut TastePlease beware of purchasing this product. I am a Chef and a baker and have used this product for years. Read the reviews but needed a teaspoon in a pinch for a cake and went to the local supermarket. Removed lid from bottle and sniffed - no cocount smell. Poured 1/2 tsp. into a dish and tasted - bitter alcohol taste - no coconut taste whatsoever. I was unable to use it. Contacted company two days later by phone and gentlemen from McCormick indicated that he personally had not received any complaints. He also informed me that all of their formulas have been changed so it will not be the same product that I'm used to. He said that he wanted to inform me of this so that I did not go to the store and attempt to purchase another bottle of the McCormick Coconut Extract and other Natural Flavors, thinking that it would be different because it would not. This is shameful and I am so thankful for the reviews that were shared. Otherwise, I would have probably trusted the McCormick product thinking it was what I have used in the past, and ruined my cake. This makes me leary of trusting McCormick products as a whole and certainly do not plan to purchase any McCormic products anytime soon. Please beware.
