Abby BlochAmerican Cancer Society Complete Guide to Nutrition for Cancer Patients

A must for cancer patients, survivors and the families and caregivers to know what to do and NOT DO, before, during and after treatment. I wish I had gotten this book several years ago-should be on sale in doctors ' offices, hospitals, and offices or groups helping cancer patients and their caregivers, including the professional ones! Especially for people with leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, or other blood cancers, and bone marrow disorders, neutropenias, and anemia!! I might have avoided some infections if I had read this before. Some of the info is in handouts that I got at the various places I have been for help, definitely not all. My sister borrowed it from the library and insisted I get a copy and I gave in and ordered it from Amazon . Should have done It sooner. Highly recommend finding a copy and that ACS get it out there, maybe a new edition, I don't know. Don't have the energy, unfortunately, to explore that issue.

I finished treatment last year so was excited about this book. However, when I received it I saw that much of it had to do with dealing with treatment side effects and relevant info during and leading up to treatment. All very valuable information! But more beneficial for those who are still on their treatment journey. Would highly recommend for them. I actually returned it because nutritionally it did not have new info for me so I just read the relevant bits from a library copy.

Very good information about what you need to know. Great advise for me. This is something I needed. I check this bookout for myself. I am pleased to have this book.Very good ideas of food you need to be eating on a daily basis. People like me need a resources to go by. Please check this bookout for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Full of a lot of information on many aspects of dealing with this illness, appropriate for patients and caregivers. The Society is so wonderfully supportive of patients and this book is an added support that explains everything your doctor may not get around to telling you or answers many of those questions you are uncomfortable asking. Useful day by day.

Informative book

I'm a chemo nurse and bought this book to share with patients. They always have a lot of questions about what to eat and not eat and this book has clear consise messages. Easy to read.

Recommendations for healthy eating choices and information about how nutrition may affect recovery are contained throughout this book. Because if covers many different types of cancer, this information may be more helpful to some patients than others.
