Buying Both Box Sets
I love all versions of Little River Band and am glad I purchased this box set. I love these versions of the songs, however, I am indebted to the previous post which indicated that the "Big Box Set" is the newer version of Little River Band because I love the versions with Wayne Nelson on lead vocals just as much, and even better in some cases. I can't wait to buy that one also!

Well packaged collection of LRBs 5 studio (and 1 live LP) for Capitol.
This package comes as 6 mini LP replica covers in a tough cardboard clamshell style case. There is a well written and balanced history of the band's work and place in rock history. The discs are remastered and presented nicely. The real bonus is that some of these albums have not been readily available on CD in recent years and it is a particularly welcome return for the albums from the John Farnham years - one of LRB's most exciting periods musically.CD1 : First Under The Wire (1979) - The band's first release after the departure bass player George McArdle features two session bass players Clive Harrison (Avalanche) and Michael Clarke (John Farnham Band). It conatins the classic hits Cool Change and Lonesome Loser and some great album tracks. By My Side, Mistress of Mine and Hard Life are highlights.CD2&3: Backstage Pass (1980) - Made up of two live concerts. Disc 1 is a concert featuring the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Disc 2 was recorded at various US concerts on a West Coast tour in 1979. Highlights are the "It's a Long Way There" and "Light of Day" on the first disc and "Too Lonely Too Long", "Hard Life" and "It's Not a Wonder" on the second. This is the best this album has ever sounded on CD.CD4: Time Exposure (1981) - Produced by George Martin, this is the last album for Glenn Shorrock and David Briggs and first for Wayne Nelson. Nelson starts the album off with the lead single "The Night Owls" (LRBs second highest charting single release in the US). A couple of other singles - "Take it Easy on Me" and "Man on Your Mind" - were also hits. Shorrock's song "Orbit Zero" and Brigg's "Don't Let the Needle Win" are the best of the album tracks. Bonus tracks are from the 1982 single "The Other Guy"CD5: The Net (1983) - First full album to feature John Farnham on Vocals, Steve Housedon on Guitar and David Hirschfelder on Keyboards. This is also Beeb Birtles and Derek Pellici's final LRB albums in this set. Hits include "Down on the Border", "We Two" and "You're Driving Me Out Of My Mind". Some great album tracks including "The Danger Sign", "Falling" and "The Net" are also included in this set.CD6: Playing to Win (1985) - Produced by Spencer Proffer and featuring LRB moving into more progressive territory, this CD contains some exemplary singing, playing and writing. The now classic song "Playing to Win" is featured in both the short version and extended mix. This was LRB's only mainstream Rock hit in the US.CD7: No Reins (1986) - This is the most consistant LRB album of the Capitol box set. There is not a bad song on this set. Often touted by critics as LRB's best album, the CD contains 5 songs sung by John Farnham and 5 sung by Wayne Nelson. Highlights of Farnham's performances are the now classic "When the War is Over" and "Forever Blue" (a major European hit 10 years after this LP's release). Highlights of Nelson's contributions are the lead single "Face in the Crowd" and the great ballad "Time for Us".This collection is essential for all LRB fans.

The REAL Little River Band, not the touring fakers
This is the real deal, the original Little River Band who wrote and recorded all the smash hits. Don't be fooled into buying The Big Box, which are re-recorded tracks by a tribute band that tours in the US and would be excoriated if they ever dared to perform in Australia, the home land of the true Little River Band.

Overall OK but....
This is a collection of Little River Band and the 2 CDs required for Backstage Pass are the best ever made in my opinion but I received one of these damaged, causing it to skip on 3 songs in the set. I asked Amazon to get it replaced but the policy apparently is return all and get a refund. The CDs of their early work is what I prefer while the later songs are not appealing to me.

The Lonesome Losers
It seems like everyone is in the business these days of making the current band line up look guilty of something and turn the former members into saints. Let's face it, the former members of LRB, Goebel, Shorrock and Birtles ALL ignored the adoring fans and sold the rights to the name for greed and walked away. the current line up carrys on the tradition of great music with great harmony for the great fans of the band. The original music was good - FOR ITS TIME. The new LRB Music is great for THIS TIME. They have updated the old songs to bring them into this century and that is a great thing and will bring in more money. The songwriters of the original hits should be gad that the new, current and improved rendition of the band is still out there playing and generating writers royalties for the performances instead of calling them posers, the people that are against the current line up should be considered HOSERS. This is an uninspired attempt by someone to capitolize on original success. The compilation is not even ON Capitol Records but some no name imported label. Talk about posers.

LRB albums in a box set
LRB were one of the classic rock bands of the 70s and 80s who enjoyed considerable chart success in the US and Australia. These hard to find albums are nicely presented in a box set with a booklet included. I particularly liked the albums that john farnham sang on as lead singer. The album " No Reins " is my favourite. This album was highly underated when released and is the best that John Farnham sang on.

一気にライブラリーが充実しました
個別に購入しようとすると入手できなかったものがあったので、リーズナブルな価格で作品が一気に揃って満足しています。自分にとって一番響くのはFirst Under The WireとBackstage Pass。

First Under The Wire(1979)Backstage Pass(1980、ライヴアルバムCD2枚)Time Exposure(1981)The Net(1983)Playing to Win(1985)No Reins(1986)このうち、現時点では上記のうちFirst Under The Wire以外のCDはアマゾンにおいてもかなりの高値が付いており入手しにくい状況でもあるため、これらがいっぺんにこの価格で手に入るのはとてもありがたいことでした。
