Did not work
Item received in good order, however went to use for the first time and an error message came up indicating that the heating element and thermostat were faulty. To add insult to injury - get refund I have to return the item to the seller at my own expense and time after already being inconvenienced by receiving a defective item.

I've been using the YIHUA 928D-III Portable Digital Soldering Iron Kit for a few weeks now and I'm genuinely impressed with what you get for the price. As someone who does electronics and DIY repairs as a hobby, this kit strikes the perfect balance between functionality and affordability. The digital temperature control is a standout feature – it allows you to set precise temperatures between 90°C and 480°C (194°F to 896°F), which is fantastic when working with different solder types and delicate components. The temperature stabilisation works well too; once it reaches the desired heat, it stays consistent without noticeable drop-off. It heats up quickly, and the 110W ceramic heater means you're ready to work in under a minute. The digital display is clear and easy to read, and I also like that you can switch between °C and °F – not essential, but a nice touch. The kit includes several interchangeable tips (fine point and chisel shapes), a cleaning sponge, brass wool, and a decent metal stand. Everything feels well-made for the price. It even has a sleep mode which is great for safety and preserving the tips if you get distracted during a project. This isn't a professional-grade iron like a Hakko or Weller – and I wouldn't expect it to be for the price – but for hobbyists, students, or anyone getting into soldering, it's hard to beat. The value for money is excellent, and it performs well above what you'd expect at this price point. In summary: A great entry-level soldering kit with features normally found on more expensive models. If you're doing occasional or hobby soldering, this is a smart and affordable choice.

Pros: nice size, perfect for beginners, useful stand. Cons: i have a habit of accidentally changing the temperature while using it. Which can get annoying, but it might just be me.

This is a review of the YIHUA 928D-III Model SK (65W with blue handle). Unfortunately it is so easy to confuse this with the 110W version with a red handle, as both carry the same YIHUA 928D-III number. It's important to know which when buying tips as the size is different. This SK model uses tips with an inner diameter of 4mm and outer diameter of 6.5mm. The tips for the 110W are much bigger because the heating element in the 110W iron is larger, so wont fit this SK 65W model. It would be more helpful if the item number(s) were different. I don't solder regularly, so I wouldn't call myself an expert, but never the less bought this to replace an old soldering iron bought from Tandy in the 70's as I had big soldering job coming up. Thought it was past due. This kit comprises decent value for money key components that get the job done without any issues. As recommended elsewhere and as is common with many starter kits, I purchased some additional tips and ditched the lead free solder supplied in the kit. I'll rely instead on my usual 60:40 tin/lead solder that I find easier to use. The case it comes in is well made and quite substantial and I find there's room inside for extra solder and a few extra accessories that didn't come with the kit. Very Happy with my purchase.

My previous soldering iron died so was looking for a replacement. This one seems to be great, it gets up to temp quckly, the stand is sturdy and the tips it come with seem to be of decent quality (I have Hakko tips too, the ones that come with these seem to be just as good). I prefer this one to my old station that died as it's more compact and doesn't take up as much desk space. Would definitely buy again.
