I purchased these to make participation awards for a Kids Fun run at a local 5K event. The kids absolutely loved getting the "medal" as they crossed the finished line. They were showing them off to everybody. Even the adults loved the inserts with our organizations logo inside. They were easy to make, but FOLLOW THE OPENING INSTRUCTIONS. It seems silly, but tapping the plastic disk on a hard surface really does cause the center to pop right out. It will make your project quick and easy.

Value for money: Wasn’t easy to open them. Having to hits them on a hard surface hoping not to break or chip one. I did chip one.

So after reading the reviews I tried several different ways of opening them. The best way I found is with a suction cup! Stick the suction cup to the part that is inset and pull it right out! Worked perfectly and was easy to get them done!

Could not open Placing on a hard service and tapping did not work.

I made do and printed, and hand cut my own inserts opposed to using the supplied inserts. Disappointed that the supplied inserts were not printer friendly as they were not on a full sheet of paper but already cut in small circles. They were VERY hard to open and had to smack them hard on the table which I was worried I would leave a dent. That's how hard it was to open. Once they were open and I re assembled, they were cute. Honestly a lot of work for purchasing something that I thought would make things easier.

My first reaction- wow the quality is great! (The medal part is thick and doesn’t bend) Second reaction- oh no the reviews are right. How do you open these? Third reaction- the suction cup method is super easy and genius!

A pesar de que al recibirlas sentí que era difícil abrirlas, al encontrar la forma correcta fue fácil, son rápidas de personalizar y útiles en diversas ocasiones. Tuve que cambiar el listón pues me parecía un poco difícil meterlas a la cabeza,bya que el listón con el que viene es muy pequeño.

I bought these so I could make personal awards for me and my friends, as we were doing a fun little award ceremony at thing. Lemme just say I spent an hour trying to figure out how these stupid things open. (On the one side the center circle falls out, you have to bang it on the wall she of a table a couple times, not too hard or they crack but hard enough that the middle falls out. Look carefully to see which side your banging, cause one side opens and the other doesn’t). As for the medals themselves they were super cute and fun to personalize myself, it took a long time cause there was so many but it was also super fun! Since my friends and I are older teens they did not fit around our necks, they were way too small, only suitable for children. I didn’t really care about that tho cause it was all fun and games and we just put them around our wrists. However if your looking for something that will fit, do not get them. I gave this product 4 stars, cause at the end of the day nothing is wrong with them, minor things made me upset but at the end of the day a medal is a medal, and that’s what these are.

These are perfect for creating your own custom medal. Because of their design they look very professional, almost no seems. This also means that opening them to put in your design is a bit tricky. Follow the directions on the amazon listing. Use force and gravity to get them out. The ribbon is exactly what you'd expect of a dollar store medal.
