This first aid ointment is meant for topical purposes, so I would not promote its use on any open or unhealed wounds. (On its packaging, a warning states: For External Use Only. Do not use on deep wounds.) Q: Can this be used for chaffing around groin? Typically during workouts.

Yes and no. Yes, you can use this to heal an existing chafed area near the groin. However, although this ointment has some slip, I wouldn’t depend on it as a barrier to prevent chafing. It would eventually soak into the skin after sustained, continuous rubbing… which would then become friction and chafed skin. So, no, this item is not meant to prevent chafing, although I guess you could use it if you needed something as a last-minute resort.
