Works as advertised - easy installation, easy to use, keeps the curious 2-year-old out
I found this product worked very well in my situation. We wanted to plug a lightweight extension cord into an outlet that is near my 2-year-old's crib for a few weeks for some Christmas lights in the hallway outside his room, and I was afraid he'd lay there in his crib and play with the cord. With this on there, he can't get two hands in the right place to open the cover and pull the cord out. I'm not going to say it's totally childproof or a permanent solution, but in this particular situation, it does the job.So I have pretty standard outlets with a single screw in the middle. Installation took about 3 minutes, would have taken 2 minutes except I forgot to put the outlet cover plate back on the first time. I find it easy enough to lift and close the cover, it takes fairly gentle squeeze from both sides simultaneously with lifting with the other hand. Maybe a clever or determined child could figure it out but so far mine haven't even tried. This will not work for you if you have anything other than two outlets (top & bottom) with a screw in the middle with a standard thread (I think it's #6-32). So if you live in an old vintage house with sideways outlets on the baseboards or whatever other non-standard configuration, this product will not work for you. It will also not work for you if you're plugging in a large three-pronged straight-on plug or one of those big fat round heads, or a DC wall adapter, or any other sort of "large" plug. It will be a problem with any heavy-duty cord that can't bend into a fairly tight radius. This is fine if you're plugging in a basic lamp with a two-prong cord, or similar with a typical light-duty two-prong plug. It would probably also work for a right-angle three-prong plug although those aren't so common.

Quick install, sturdy, perfect fit for lamps.
I just got these in the mail today and I have been dying to get one installed where my toddler constantly unplugs my floor lamp! I was a bit nervous reading some of these reviews but I figured for $3, I'd take a chance. While I'll admit that I understand that these won't fit ALL outlet and cord situations, if you read the description and look at the pictures, you'll see if it'll work for you or not. In my situation, I only needed it for one skinny lamp cord and this fit perfectly.Installation was very simple. It was just a matter of unscrewing the faceplate screw and using the provided screws to install the base. My screws were taped to the inside of the cover. A lot of people complained about not having screws so I'm not sure if they just didn't see them or what. The cover snaps right on and it's sturdy and exactly what I hoped for.Other people complaining that it's too hard to separate the base and the cover, I'm not really sure that's a bad thing. My child is very clever and persistent. I don't want this thing to be removed easily! I actually didn't have any issues separating them. I just pushed in the tab on one side at a time and popped it off. This isn't for extension cords or anything with a thick cord, but for regular appliances, it's awesome. I would definitely buy again.

Functionality Flaws
Really easy to install and if you know where to pinch and pull and lift up, it is still easy to get the cover part off for an adult. I was worried about that because their are things we move around and don't continually keep plugged in one place. This is perfect. I feel my son will be safeUpdate: I find this plug to be extremely annoying bc anything other than a old fashioned narrow cord will not fit as the cover is too narrow for even the smallest cell phone charger for example. As far as it being hard to get off. It's supposed to be bet this is how you do it... Squeeze both triggers with one hand and with other hand pull down and away from the wall before pushing it up vertically. Bottom part has to come off first. I have become practiced with it so it's not so bad now.I would give it five stars if it were wider. Also another reviewer mentioned it won't fit outlets. That is inaccurate. It goes OVER the outlet frame and it comes with longer screws to accommodate this. The screws will be taped inside one of the units so take note of this and you will be fine.

Good product, but only got 2 of them
Okay, so there are 2 portions to this review... The product is good. It is simple to install and hides the cords well. Easy enough for an adult to open but would be pretty hard for a small child. The issue, and the reason for 3 stars is that only 2 covers were sent. At the time of ordering and at the time of writing this review, the product description says:Dorel Junenille/ Safety 1st #10404 2PK White Safe Out Cover (Pack of 6)Now in my experience, as far as Amazon descriptions go, that usually would mean it was 6 separate 2 packs, for a total of 12. I would be okay with it only being six individual items as that part was a little ambiguous. But it definitely shouldn't be only 2 outlet covers.I contacted Amazon about it and they said they would send me another shipment, however they sent another shipment of some other outlet covers I had bought around the same time instead of these. I'm just going to keep those, as I can get by with only the 2 of these and I don't really want to go through the hassle of getting it corrected. So I can't say for sure if it was just that one shipment that was in error or if the description is wrong. If you buy them, just make sure you get at least 6 of them in the package. I had ordered so much child proofing stuff at once, I almost didn't realize that they didn't send as many as were in the description.

If your outlet has 2 screws, this is not for you
Note: I contacted Amazon and received a full refund for this item. Before you buy this, check your power outlet! If you have 2 screws (See attached picture - one at the top and one at the bottom) securing the plastic plate in place, then this product is not going to work.)I was more dissatisfied with the fact this wasn't mentioned in the product description, than the fact that it didn't work. The claim that it works on any outlet, is just false. This will work on outlets that have one screw in the middle only. However, and as other reviewers mentioned, the bottom opening is too small, so if you are planning on running more than one wire, you're going to have to squeeze them in, or improvise and enlarge the opening somehow. If you managed to mount it in place, and have no problem with fitting the wires, the cover snaps on pretty tight, so your little one will not be able to pull it out. However, I am not sure if the cover will remain as tight after being used for a while - I haven't installed it, so I don't know.Hope this was helpful.

Does not work with all faceplates for outlets see picture
Honestly kind of disappointed. It seems like a very small footprint product but is a no go for me as I cannot mount it, and am not about to change all the outlets in my house. It is a very easy fix for them too - inlcude an alternative faceplate which is what Safety Innovations does anyways. I am sure if you have a proper outlet it will work just fine. Also, be aware that the colouring I got was ever so slightly yellow, as if it aged in the sun. If you have white walls this will stick out.

Only compatible with standard (regular) outlets, not decora style.
Pretty silly that the 3 product pictures don't show you the product with the outlet cover open. This will only work with standard (regular) outlets, not decora style outlets which are common in most newer homes. The cover is also pretty small and would only work with a regular plug. If you had any type of power block or transformer the cover would not close.

Not safe or usable. Don't buy.
These are the most useless outlet covers I have ever used. The screws they come with are almost impossible to use as the groove in them isn't really deep enough for a screwdriver so it keeps stripping. Once you finally have it in, you realize it barely covers the hole for the outlet, if at all, so now your child's tiny fingers might be able to get into the spaces. Then you get around that problem just to realize whatever you wanted to plug in probably won't fit if it's anything but the smallest, most basic plug. Seriously, I know others are more expensive but there's a reason this one is so cheap. Look elsewhere.

Doesn’t work for usb plugs
Decent quality but a little hard to remove, doesn’t work for usb plugs which is what I needed it for. They don’t fit in the case and don’t plug in because of the screw area.
