Previously I had owned this knife after buying it at my local AutoZone. I worked there at the time and used this knife for work related things like cutting boxes when they disrespected me, reckless hose trimming, driving large high-torque bolts, trimming alternators etc. This knife took it all and asked for more. It also made a good intimidating toothpick - which is the best kind, of course. Anyhow, in this town if you set something down for 5 minutes it tends to walk away, and thus, like so many of my prize-ed possessions, it too fled to the strange but invigorating comfort of some shoplifter's pocket. Devastation! Woe! For my beloved had fled me, never to return. At least, until I bought a new one from AutoZone. Indeed, once-more I was be-struck with woe! For so it was that AutoZone, whom I had come to trust, had ordained to discontinue my beloved, never to return to their stock. Nary a knife left in the town to be found. Tragedy! Lamentation! Woe! But in my darkest hour, a brilliant light split the dark skies, and from it Amazon descended unto me and said, "Do not fear or dismay, Child of Bezos, for we have come to redeem you from this dark place, and provide unto you once-more your beloved knife, with free shipping through Prime." Rejoice, did I, at the marvel of holding my beloved in my excessively large and masculine hands once-more, and only mere days later! The marvel! It's every ounce the knife I remember, and just as sharp as the day we first met. For those of you living in this century, I love this knife enough to buy it again after losing it. I got it at AutoZone, lost it, and couldn't find it again anywhere so I turned to Amazon and there it was. A whole 2 dollars cheaper than AutoZone too! So I slammed that checkout button and Amazon slapped that puppy in a box and dispatched it expediently as we are so accustom to. Happy to report the quality is consistent with the last one I had. Nice wooden grips with a lovely reddish brown color, black frame and blade, belt clip which can be mounted on either side, and a good sized little knob for extending the blade. My experience with the past knife was that the frame lock was solid, the blade kept and edge well, although I did regularly sharpen it as I'd be using it for far more reasonable things like cutting cardboard at work and it would dull regularly as would any knife. I liked it because it kept a usable edge longer than my other knives and has a bigger blade that isn't too thick. I have big hands and this is a bigger than average sized pocketknife - accordingly it takes up a bit more space in the pocket and carries a bit more heft than your typical pocket knife, but I like that about it. It's what makes it beautiful to me, and you can take that to the bank. I did notice the edges wearing from black to silver but frankly, I felt it made it look cool, like a discarded gun used by John Wick to avenge his dead puppy. meanwhile the wood grips showed no wear and only minimal wearing off of the black finish occurred at the tip of the blade. I also sharpened it regularly as I used it for work and it would get dull just like any knife forced to cut cardboard for a while, but it held a blade a bit longer than my smaller knives so I liked that too. 10/10 so nice I bought it twice I hope it doesn't get stolen again, I don't know if I can carry that on my soul at this point.

I would like to preface this by saying this is my EDC so its taken a lot of wear and tear. I've owned two of these so far. The reason for purchasing the second was that my first developed a significant slant on the blade. The pivot in the blade had a slight wobble to it after a couple of months of use. I lent the knife out and I do not know exactly what it was used for but after it was returned the wobble had turned into a definite slant. The blade itself was not bent but the spacers seemed to have been damaged somehow casing the tip and point to just make contact with the handle when closing. I attempted to tighten the pivot and realign the pivot washers in between the blade and handle but it made no difference. I got tired of fighting with it so I ordered another one and kept this around the house as a backup. Pros: Very good construction: It feels good in the hand and has great balance which is rare for a folding knife. Good Materials: Both the metal which is a 440 stainless equivalent and the wooden handle are good quality. Nice action: Opening and closing feels solid, lock is very sturdy. Cons: Metal is not anodized, I really like the aesthetic of the black metal, unfortunately it seems to be a lower quality stain rather than an anondized. Ive had some of the color brush off even from use on wood and other soft materials.

I had an all-black folding knife from Coast that I carried with me every day for years but when I finally lost it, I ordered this one to replace it. I wish I remembered the model of that trusty old knife, which apparently is pretty hard to find these days (even on eBay), because it was the perfect size and shape to carry without adding almost any extra bulk to my pocket. I have a Leatherman Free P2 (pictured) which I absolutely love and have a tendency to want to keep on me all the time but for days when I don't anticipate needing all that extra functionality, I would always roll with Coast. It was my "minimalist" option and it was great for that. When I received the FX411, I took one look at it and almost sent it back. It is HUGE in comparison to my old Coast knife and as you can hopefully see from the pictures, it's still bigger than the Leatherman in almost every dimension. Not exactly gonna work as a minimalist option for EDC. So why did I keep it? Well... It flips open with one hand like my old one did, it FEELS great in the hand, it looks sexy AF, and the larger size kinda makes it feel extra "manly" 💪🏼. It's just a really solid knife and it's hard not to love. And for $20, I could afford to lose it all over again! Hell, I can barely get a fast food dinner for $20 these days. If you're on the fence, I'd say buy it before they jack up the price to what it's really worth. Could be a $60-70 knife in my estimation. My old one certainly never let me down even after years of use and never once being sharpened. For $20, I'd say this one is a no-brainer.

Excellent quality knife for the money. Has the quality and appearance of a more expensive knife. Carry clip orientation makes one-handed drawing and opening fast and easy. Blade opens smoothly without lubrication and is sturdy when locked in place. Knife is on the larger side, and would be good for someone with big hands. The aggressive knurling on the back of the handle helps maintain a good grip with gloves on but can become a bit uncomfortable if using the knife for long periods. Overall I am very happy with this knife.

This arrived even nicer than I expected! It's getting hard to find nice 4" folding knives anymore it seems, and once I found, and heard good things about this one. I quickly placed an order. For the price of it, I was expecting a fair knife. What I got instead, was a fantastic knife! Everything was nice and tight. All of the screws, and the blade has zero movement in any direction. A pocket clip has been added to this model, and the blade had been upgraded some months back by the manufacturer, to a 7Cr17 steel, and that's a welcome fact. Only when buying online though, will you find this better steel, because the brick & mortar stores (Home Depot for example), are only selling the inferior 3Cr13 steel bladed version. The blade also came very sharp, and upon further 200X magnification, is very well done! The frame lock swings well into place, and dead-on center. A very safe feeling. The swing open action is smooth and effortless, via the thumb stud. What more could I ask of a knife, for this kind of money? Now that I've shown it off to a few family members, friends, and co-workers. Many have said that they will be placing an order soon. I think I'll pickup a few more too, for later Birthday and Holiday gift giving.
