Rit All-Purpose Powder Dye, Wine

I've been enjoying projects with RIT dyes since high school, so for some decades now. I've tried other brands, but nothing else is as easy to use and effective, at least that I've come across. If you are on a budget, or even if you're not but can't find just the right color sweater or bedspread or what-have-you for any amount of money, RIT is the best. It's also so much fun, if you happen to be the creative or DIY type. I have searched for months for a fun new quilt set for our bedroom and can't find anything that works at any price. Finally, I dyed our 20-year-old set a vibrant wine-plum color, and I am in love with it! See photo: Our quilt is made of cotton, so it took the dye well. It had been a beige color with green, blue, and red stripes. I used two packets of RIT Wine powdered dye and one bottle of RIT Eggplant liquid dye. I used hot water in the bathtub and let it soak for an hour, making sure to move it around once or twice to prevent uneven dying. Then I rinsed it a few times in the tub and finally, I washed it in the machine in hot water, with an extra rinse. LOOK at that awesome, new, one-of-a-kind bedspread! NOTE: The bathtub was stained after I finished the project, but I simply sprayed it with a bleach bathroom cleaner and the staining vanished. If you have an old or abraded tub, however, the dye may stain the exposed porcelain permanently. I usually do my RIT dying in a big, old pot on the stovetop, but this project needed more room. You can use a plastic storage bin or tub in your backyard of you need a lot of room to dye your project and don't want to risk staining your bathtub. SECOND NOTE: I will NEVER wash this quilt with any other item, as dyed colors (especially reds) can bleed for many washings after the initial dying.

I bought this s because it’s powder and it was perfect for speckling yarn! I loved the color and much much cheaper then other dyes! I am planning on buying more colors!

Color turned out GORGEOUS! I used the “wine” color in the powder form. It is more like a deep magenta than a burgundy. This bag started out as a very faded version of what you see in the photo and is 100% cotton, so it took the dye very well. Couldn’t be more pleased. Used the stovetop method and simmered for about 30 min. Dye did not stain the stainless steel pot, stainless sink, or inside of the washing machine (white enamel). Do use gloves though!

Not as deep as color as I expected and a real PITA to use.

My daughter and I dyed two item, a pair of pants and hoodie. They both turned out a lovely mauve shade. We made sure they were made of above 90% cotton. Follow the directions as listed and your item will look great too.

Ich hatte das Produkt bestelt, weil man den Eindruck erweckt bekommt, dass es sich wirklich um Wein handelt. Im Nachhinein erzählte man mir, dass es ein Färbemittel sei.

Meglio di quanto mi aspettassi! Perfetto per colorare tessuti, io l'ho utilizzato per colorare uno zaino eastpak, costituito principalmente da cordura, tessuto sintetico (da lilla a bordeaux, risultato ottimo). Consegna nei tempi previsti!
