No longer a fussy, gassy, bloated, sleep-deprived little dog
Over the years my husband and I have really run the gauntlet when it comes to trying to help our poor little fussy, gassy, bloated dog to feel better. She has tried so many different special foods (for digestion, for weight control, for old age, sensitive stomachs) and with each new food we carefully introduced it into her diet with high hopes that this would finally be the one to help her, but we were always met with the same result of either maintaining her level of problems or increasing them. A few months ago she was feeling worse than ever and it was affecting her sleep so badly that she would just fuss all day and all night long. She would beg us to take her outside and we would take her for the longest walks (miles and miles) and she would either have diarrhoea throughout the walk or she wouldn't be able to get anything out at all. Either way, despite the lengthy duration of her walks, the moment that we had brought her back inside she would start desperately asking to go back out again. She also threw up regularly (even when she was on sensitive stomach food) and it would keep her up all night. The poor thing was getting next to no sleep. On top of that, she would go to her empty food bowl (after eating her full daily serving amount and then some) and would scratch at it and beg and plead for more food even when she was clearly too full already. Out of sheer desperation and desire for her comfort and our peace, I decided to try putting her on a vegetarian diet. I did all my customary extensive research and am extremely happy with the choice that I made! Her improvement was immediate and has lasted for the entire two months that we've had her on the food so far. It is truly remarkable! Her behavior changed in less than a day! Her walks last a pleasant and satisfying amount of time, she gets her business done right away (firm and normal), she sleeps through the night, she is generally peaceful throughout the day. Her bloating has gone down significantly and she is even starting to lose weight despite the fact that the food isn't even "diet". Here is what I've been feeding her: Halo Vegan Garden Medley Stew for Dogs (dry food) and Natural Balance Vegetarian Formula (canned wet food). It's is actually vegan as well, not just vegetarian. I use half the daily serving amount of each kind (so that the sum total per day is one full serving of food) and combine the two together thoroughly. Also, I split her food up into two feedings a day which means that each serving of combined food equals half of her daily serving size. I cannot stress enough the improvement that this food has made in her quality of life! I'm so happy for her and I highly recommend either or both Halo Garden Medley Stew and/or Natural Balance Vegetarian Formula!

Wonderful Vegan Dog Food
Our current two dogs have been strict vegetarians, like us, for a long time, as have our previous five dogs. We supplement this with veggies and fried tofu or cheese slices or cottage cheese or tofurkey slices for variety. I often use the canned product to create a kind of gravy for our older dog. We mix it with the Natural Balance kibbles and might add a little canola oil, peanut butter, soy sauce or nutritional yeast or yogurt for variety. It’s a great product to have on hand to simplify meals for our canine companions. It also is not very watery so you get a decent amount of nutrition. Just to point out: Dogs can be healthy and live to be quite old on a vegetarian diet. Pumpkin lived to age 14, Flora , a black lab mix, to age 16, Sebastian, a pug rescue, to age 15, Oliver and Harvey, both pugs, to age 13 and 14. Now Levi and Honey, both from Green Mountain Pug Rescue, are thriving on a vegetarian diet. Dogs are definitely able to do very well without meat as l know from almost 50 years of having dogs on vegetarian food only.

Best Non-Organic Dog Food
Adopting an abused 2 year old Shih Tzu has been an interesting experience for our family over the past few months. We started Aggie out on Trader Joe's kibble, believing this to be an acceptable, more natural product for both our dogs. Aggie could never digest the TJ's product, so I began researching what doggie naturalists were feeding their dogs. And, it looked like the raw meat diet was the way to go and definitely no grains. This went great for about a month untill we got a bad batch of premade raw dog food (super expensive @ $60/week) and had terrible projectile poo and throwup for 3 days each! So, I said, forget this.. not worth it. Next, my research brought me to Acana/Orijen Brand(s). I still feel this is probably the highest quality kibble out there, but after 4 weeks of runny poo on this brand, I realized my little shih tzu just couldn't handle such rich food. My other dog, a chow chow did fine on it but didn't really care for the flavor all that much. The quest for answers continued until I came accross information on Dick Van Patten's web site for his dog food line: Natural Balance. I didn't realize that some dogs can be allergic to meat. For example, chicken is in nearly all dog food, and after a couple of generations (just like soy and wheat with humans), dogs are becoming sensative to chicken as an ingredient. The VERY FIRST DAY I put Aggie on their Duck and Potato Formula (grain free too - I love that!), her poos hardened up and no more bile throw up in the morning. She's been on it now for 10 days, and it has been a wonderful experience - changing all our lives. Though I have to say she doesn't run to the food, but she eats it when she is hungry. Now, our other dog, our Chow Chow begs for it. I've begun mixing the Orijen kibble with the NB canned, and she eats her entire meal right up. I will be transitioning my chow to NB as soon as her remaining Orijen is consumed. Love, Love, Love this product.

So far so good
I will update this email as time past bye since im keeping close look at my dogs reactions to it. First let me explain this food is all my 4 pound and 7 month old Yorkie is eating, no treats or other foods. 2 months ago my Yorkie started having allergies reaction, her eyes got swollen and she will scratch herself to bleed. After the vet, injections, medications, special foods and a lot of money, I decided to give the vegetarian option a try. I personally suffer of gluten allergies and went true all the stressful and painful process of trying to figure out what was causing the reactions, I eventually after lots of reading chose to give my body the nutrients and support it needed to heal and strengthen my immune system, one specific nutrient was key for me and while I still have some reactions is by no mean as it use too before or when i was on medication, in my case im allergic to gluten and since is such an inexpensive ingredient is almost every where and in everything. So when my youngest pet started showing signs of allergies I knew what i was going to be dealing with. First the can was easy to open, it opens like any regular sauce or food can does, with a can opener. Second: is smooth, soft, smells like spam and you can clearly see real ingredients in it. I attach a closeup video showing the consistency , color and appearance of this food. Third (and this one i like a lot) Lady seem to love it, it got her back to pooping only once a day and not a smelly poop. This detail is key for me, the special commercialized pet food, not only is digested faster but what comes out after is more stinky than when feeding less processed food and real ingredients. Is like us, eat organic and not processed food for a week and watch your body react very differently, then go back to eating none organic and unhealthy and the first difference you will notice is the smell of your 💩😷 😂 Lady is pooping less because there is less to get rid of and her body is taking full advantage and using all this food, the special amd commercial food was digested faster since there wasn't much nutrients there to hold on too or use. Her mood change and she went back to being her normal happy self. 1 can lasted almost 3 days (she is a puppy and hardly weight 4 pounds) I need to give her at least 10 more days to give a good report in regards to her allergies, but for now we have seen some good hopeful improvements.

Good quality
My dog loves this food. I was happy when we found this because he is allergic to beef, chicken and so much more so venison is best for him.

Do not feed your dog
This product was beyond dry. I put a spoon in it to lift up a portion, and it was all over my counseling, my stove in my floor. I did not notify you as I felt this is a manufacturing problem and I have been working for the last almost a month with them to try to understand why their customer service is so poor (I did not take an original picture.)I took this after their customer service asked this Can was placed upside down hoping that that would be the problem. I guess it’s obvious from the video that was not the problem.

Soft enough for a senior dog to eat without being runny. Plus, it doesn't smell gross to the humans in the house.
It has put some pep back into my 15 year old Shepard Mix. It is formulated in such a way that his sensitive, tumor riddled system is able to process it easily. As the human guest in his house (yes, it's my dog's house; he just lets me live here and pay the bills), I greatly appreciate the drastic reduction in gas and foul odor coming out of my dog. My dog was the runt of his litter and his digestive system was under-developed, according to one of his earlier vets. He has had trouble digesting food his entire life. It's only gotten worse since he's hit 15, lost many teeth and grown tumors throughout his abdomen and in his throat. (He doesn't let it slow him down, so under the care of a vet, we get to enjoy him each day without having to make that awful decision dog owners sometimes have to face.) As his teeth and throat issues were pushing me closer to having to decide that "the time", had come, I tried Natural Balance's Sweet Potato and Chicken canned food as my last ditch effort to find him a food he could eat comfortably. WOW!!!! My review is by no means an implication of the food's ability to cure anything, but within just one feeding, it was like I had a new dog. My 15 year old Shepard stopped moping around, he began playing with toys again, a light came back to his eyes, and despite his arthritis, he now comes running to the kitchen when I go ANYWHERE near the spot where I keep his food. For me, the food doesn't stink and it doesn't look like something already ate it and rejected it before canning it. It comes out of the can looking like a mash of sweet potatoes and chicken rather than a watery stew. It's soft enough for me to break it up and spread it around his plate with just a spoon whereas other "mashes" we've tried were so gelatinous that I had to use a knife or warm them to break them apart. It is thick enough to hide his tablets in and it coats them well enough that he can't suck the food off and spit the tablets out like he's learned to do. Other than the price increasing from $20 to $32 per 12 can case in the few months since I first tried it, I have NO complaints. In 15 years, I have finally found a dog food that makes both me and the dog happy. The vet is also satisfied with it because unlike other soft foods I've tried, this one is meeting the dog's dietary needs AND I don't have to glam it up to get him to eat it. To the contrary, I now wonder if my dog is getting enough to eat or if he is just now being greedy now that he has a food that doesn't seem to upset his stomach, hurt his bad teeth, or pain his throat. After each feeding, he will spend a good 15-20 minutes sniffing and licking around the kitchen floor to get any bits he may have pushed off the plate while diving in. He never did that before. Again, I can't and don't recommend this product to cure or treat anything other than dog hunger, but it has been a canned miracle for my very sick, senior, four-legged friend. The cans must be opened with a can opener. I do wish they came with pop tops.

entices reluctant dogs to eat
My 10-month-old Rottweiler has been eating the Natural Balance Duck and Potato kibble for awhile due to sensitive stomach issues. However, she recently had a bout of inappetence. After $50 spent at the vet, it was determined that she was not dehydrated, did not have a viral or bacterial infection, and had not swallowed a foreign object. While I know it is OK for a dog to go without food for a day, having lost several pets to illness last year (one chronic and one sudden), I was hyper-concerned. One of my first ideas to get my dog to eat was to try mixing in some of the wet version of the dry food she'd been eating. I figured the smell would entice her, and I've generally had good luck with products from this particular line. In fact, this wet food was exactly what I was looking for. It got my dog eating again in no time. I feed her twice a day. At the end of the day, she's had a total of 1 can + 3 cups of kibble, which is the amount prescribed on the can for an 80-pound dog. The food doesn't coat the kibble, but you can sort of embed the kibble in the wet food. There is a strong "smoked" smell to the food. As a vegetarian, this smell is not particularly appealing to me, but the important thing is not what I think, but what the dog thinks, and she loves it. Even though my dog has been on kibble her whole life until recently, this food was gentle on her stomach. Her elimination is, if anything, improved -- firmer stools, etc. Note: I haven't experienced a ton of cans from different lots just yet. I got a couple of cases from Amazon yesterday and the cans do not appear to be dented. I, personally, am not too concerned about a few dents in cans or slightly different moisture levels from can to can, as this is a feature I commonly find in other types and brands of canned pet foods (particularly cat foods) ordered from Amazon, and my cats have not suffered because of it. (I think it's just a combination of the hazard of having things sent UPS and small variations in factory conditions...) For what it's worth, at the time I am writing this review, it's cheaper by almost 60-70 cents a can to buy this from Amazon (with free shipping) than it is to pick it up at the local store that carries it. Also, these cans do not have pull tabs so you will need a can opener to get them open.
