hand till to save fuel & electricity, great for sandy soil, plenty of length, comfort handles
Easy to put together. The 17.5" measurement refers to the width of the handle. I was concerned that it I was going to be seriously hunched over if it was an indication of length. I figured not, and as expected it is thirty something inches long. Plenty of length to comfortably hand till. I have sandy soil which is pretty easy to work with. This cuts through very easily. I have a motorized tiller, but it is a pain to get working. I dont need it for a large area, I just want to turn over some land for a small garden. Also works for working through some weeds. I imagine it is easiest on soft land, or land that has been worked over before. Not sure if I would try it on hard packed clay. But who knows. Not me, anyway. Though an upcoming project may actually encounter firmer dirt. We'll see. Very sturdy, strong. From top to bottom is is a durable metal. Handles are covered in thick rubber for grip and comfort. Very easy to put together, just slide in 4 bolts and washers, then twist the butterfly nut on to each. Be sure to tighten it up really well less it feels shaky. After shopping around I decided on this as I got this at a good price, it looked like it would do the job, and so I went for it. I am pleased so far. Just starting to get my vegetable garden going, and I needed to turn some dirt and grass over. This is a handy little thing. Also, I think it is important to have tools that dont require gas or electricity. If you can hand till something, I say go for it. My next project will be for some up coming landscaping jobs that I get hired for. More challenging stuff, and I am curious how this will hold up. I figure it is much easier to travel with a hand till than a machine. I have good muscle strength, so I imagine I can use it under nearly any condition. I'll report back if I experience anything worth sharing. So far so good. 5 stars from me!

Easy to use!
I recently started using this manual Garden Tiller, and it’s been amazing for my garden. The 17.7" arc handle design is genius—it really reduces the effort needed to twist into compacted soil. The sharp, angled claw tines dig in easily, and I can actually feel the soil loosening with each turn. It works especially well in my raised beds and around my shrubs, where it’s usually hard to reach with larger tools. It’s ideal for loosening soil, improving aeration, and prepping for planting or weeding. Just make sure to use it in soil—not rock or concrete—so you don’t damage the tines. Assembly was quick and straightforward, and the handle is comfortable to grip. I’ve already recommended this to a few gardening friends—it’s a sturdy, efficient tool that’s made gardening a lot easier and more enjoyable.

Light-duty, and keep it dry, but it's fine
I use this for turning my compost bin, and for that it works pretty well. It doesn't feel like it would hold up to digging in the ground very long, especially in tough or rocky dirt. It was very cheap, and it does what I need it to do, though. I don't leave it out in the rain either, because it doesn't seem like it would hold up well to that.

tiller tor single plants.
My wife got something like this year's ago. It is a bit rattley and fragile, but it works and she loves it. I got this one thinking the steel tines might hold up better. They do. She still likes the aluminum one. The premise is a low till tiller. If you are putting in a row plant every 12 to 24 inches, why bust the whole area? It works a nice hole about 6" across and 4" deep with a single action. You can work deeper. You can lay down Garden Mats on a sodless area, and till the holes right in the mat. Mats with large holes only. I find it easier to mark your spots and till, than to shove the dirt back off of the mat. Anyway, it works well to put in dozens of starts from <5" pots more precisely than a broadfork, more effectively than wheel tiller, and without the hassle of owning a rototiller.

Love It
I've been slowly killing off portions of grass to expand my garden, and using this tool to lightly till the ground and remove any remaining weeds. Works great. I've used it a bit to turn my compost pile, too, and it works in the areas I don't have anything big or long like sticks in the compost.

Very easy to use
I must admit that I didn't have high hopes for this one. I am converting my lawn to a permaculture garden, but the native soil is too hard to work with. My actual veggies are in raised beds, but I was hoping to plant wildflower seeds in between. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it worked. It's terrible compacted clay with a ton of rocks, but it still made it through. In normal conditions, it is a breeze to till through the soil. It was easy peasy on my garden beds although it was more tricky with the compacted dirt.

Good for light duty
Works well in loose soil. I wouldn’t try it in hard or rocky ground, or anywhere with roots. The tines are not substantial enough, they will bend easily.

Used it to completely tear up, till and flatten a large weedy plant-mound area in front of the house. it really made short work of it, and was a good upper body workout! Great product. Strong and simple. I can see it lasting many years like a good old fashioned tool should.

I picked this up to help till a large garden, and while it definitely did the job, my blisters are proof that it’s not ideal for bigger plots. That said, the tool itself is sturdy, effective, and well-designed for manually turning soil. For smaller garden beds or raised boxes, it’s a great option—perfect for mixing in compost or loosening up compacted soil. Overall: Highly effective for small-scale gardening tasks, but be prepared for a workout if you're tackling a larger area—might be better to go powered in that case.

Good hand auger works well turning weeds and roots up. Only flaw was using wing nuts instead of locking nuts. First 30 min. using it 2 wing nuts loosened off and were lost in the soil. They never came with lockwashers just flatwashers. Cheaper quality wingnuts too so you couldn't tighten them tight enough.

I am a lazy weed puller with knees that creak and groan when I have to kneel and pull weeds for hours on end. Even worse, some of those weeds are stronger than steel and have thorny defense systems designed to help you know who is boss. I purchased this machine so that I could tackle those pesky weeds and win. I do win with it, just if you were wondering. I like the grip and how sharp those claws are. They go through the soil like butter and turning the weed out is fairly easy. I also bought a gripper tool for picking up the thorny weeds to put in the compost pile. I haven't had to use a bandaid since then.
