Continental Race King Fold ProTection Bike Tire

Excellent tire. I upgraded from the stock tire that came on my 29er... One of the biggest factors is rotating weight. I weighed these tires, and they were 619 grams each. The stock MTB tires were 1440 grams each!! The tread is great, and they roll unbelievably well. They have completely changed the feel of my bike. I just started riding my mountain bike again about 2 weeks ago, and I can already ride 15 miles at a 12mph average without feeling defeated, like with my old tires. These tires are well worth the money and is the best thing I have bought for my bike so far!

I wish I had found this tire a long time ago. This is light years ahead of the tire that came on my MTB. I spent almost a grand on a classy MTB and rode it for 1000+ miles before I needed a new tire. Yes, I knew the manufacturer would not use the best rubber for the road, but I expected quality or at least solid tires. I put this on the bike and the difference is worlds apart. This Continental is fantastic. The knobby pattern is small and closely spaced. Ergo, I was worried about traction in anything other than hard pack. I was semi right. This tire is quiet on the pavement, hard pack, sand or mud. Traction is an issue on very soft surfaces. No problem on hard pack, roots, pavement, gravel, sand. I can climb a mountain trail with no sweat.Wet, well that depends. Wet hard surfaces is no problem. Soft mud is not this tire's forte.This is a tire I will buy over and over again.Unlike some reviewers I received a tire clearly marked "handmade in Germany" and "black chili" . This was a quality tire and I heartily recommend it.

Had two flats right after installing these expensive tires. Tires are nice but way over priced.Installed Sun-lite Thorn Resistant inner tube and stops flats2 lavender tire liner. Had not had any more flats after over 100 miles.Made the bike feel heavier at first but I got used to it.I recommend, buy a cheaper tire and spend the money on a nice inner tube and liner if you hate flats and are not racing.

After two months in use, the sidewall ripped open where the "inner rubber ring" connects to the side wall because of material fatigue. I have used Schwalbe and Maxxis tires exhaustively and never ever encountered a tire with such a short life. If you ride a lot and don't plan on changing your tire every 1.5 months, do not buy this product.

Had these tires for about a year. Had many durability issues. Grip is phenomenal for the type of tire it is. I have a 27.5x2.2 tire on the rear of my XC rig. I'm not very competitive now as I've started college but this is all based on my partly competetive lifestyle less than a year ago. I mostly ride to train now and prefer a longer lasting tirePros:- Fast!- Surpisingly grippy, tracked hardpack great, in sand was decent, great in loose rocky solid stuff if line choices were wise.- Decent low rolling resistance.Cons:- Seriously failed in durability. Sidewalk sucks at "protection." Threading showed after 6 months. Many tread blocks were removed revealing tire threads. Several tread slashes from small rocks, caused some leakage and had to patch a couple areas. For some reason a bulge formed in the casing, was large enough to rub my frame. I was about 11 months into the tire. I decided to remove it and install an older specialized fast trak control. That tire has a thinner casing and it has survived longer than the race king.Overall the other performance aspects are great, but durability failed. I'm not sponsored so I am not obliged to replace tires every month or race. Not practical for my use. Would recommend for those who want a tire for more competitive use (where they aren't used often, use one pair of tires for training and the others for racing). I'm even very wary about my own advice on this so if it fails during a race don't blame me.

Lacks traction on climbs but downhill experience was better than expected with a very smooth, controlled ride on the descents, especially in the tight turns. Am upping to the Continental X-King Sport, which has bigger knobbies, for my rear tire. Still riding the MaxxisHigh Roller II on the front.

Very good look and performance - 0 flats so far after 400+ miles. Great handling on road surfaces and quiet with low rolling resistance. My all time favorite, much better than my Maxxi, Kenda and others I've had.

Reifen undicht, verliert an den Flanken Luft trotz mehrfacher Reinigung und Dichtmilch, unbrauchbar da nach 2 Tagen der Reifen platt ist. Nach 3 Stunden geht der Druck von 2bar runter auf 1,5, das ist bei einem 12 Stunden Rennen eher nicht so toll würde ich sagen.Ansonsten fährt er sich gut aber was hilfts. Schade, ich fahr dann halt wieder Schwalbe so wie die letzten Jahre.

L'ho acquistato per montarlo sul posteriore della mia Scott Full. Sostituisce il Race King base su cerchio Syncross 29" con canale da 17. Uso la camera d'aria perché ho paura di forare o stallonare e perder tempo durante le escursioni hard trail. Ci ho fatto 100 km tra sterrati in discesa e salita, asfalto, fogliame, boschi... insomma chi più ne ha più ne metta. Ci ho fatto un bel po' di salti ed il copertone è li perfetto. Nessuna foratura e nessun stallonamento. Certo non so come sarebbe stato senza camera d'aria. L'unica pecca è che, forse giustamente, è poco aggressivo nelle salite su sterrato ed in alcune situazioni molto ripide mi costringe a scendere perchè perde aderenza. Prossimamente lo trasferirò su nuovo cerchio DT Swiss 1700 spline con canale da 25 e vediamo come si comporta... vi terrò aggiornati in caso di variazioni.

Gratamente sorprendido con esta cubierta. Aclarar que yo la uso como trasera, mayoritariamente por pista en buen estado y raramente all mountain (90%-10%). Lo que se conoce como XC.VENTAJASSin duda destaco el agarre. Tanto lateral como retención en frenada. De las mejores que he tenido. Además no noto lastre excesivo.Por otro lado nunca he pinchado, uso tubeless, lo cual no tiene porqué ser mérito de la cubierta, pero lo comento por si aporta valor. Tubelizó a la primera, muy fácil.Durabilidad muy destacada también. No se si es el compuesto o la goma en sí, pero dura una barbaridad, como el doble de kilometros que otras que he utilizado en la misma bici y aún desgastada, sigue agarrando bien.Es cierto que mi uso no es muy agresivo para la cubierta, pero he llegado a competir con ella y 0 problemas. Nunca había tenido 0 problemas con una cubierta, siempre algo de agarre perdía en algunas condiciones o algún pinchazo solucionado con una mecha. En este caso, 0 problemas en ruta.DESVENTAJAS.Pocas o ninguna. Tal vez el precio es algo elevado sin oferta, pero realmente compensa al durar el doble que otras que cuestan menos.En barro o arena muy suelta pierde agarre, pero es que no están diseñadas para eso, para eso hay otras cubiertas, no es una desventaja como tal, pero lo apunto por si acaso alguien piensa que esta cubierta vale para absolutamente todas las condiciones.Se soltó un taco a los pocos meses, pero debe ser una cubierta defectuosa, que amazon se encargó se solucionar sin mayor complicación. Con el reemplazo no me ha vuelto a ocurrir nada, por lo que considero que sería un defecto de la primera cubierta.Un gran producto, repetiré sin duda.PD: Comentar que las cubiertas son compuesto black chilli y protection de continental.

Am Samstag bestellt, heute geliefert...montiert, undeben von der Probefahrt über ca. 15km zurück.Der Gesamteindruck ist auf Straße und im festen Gelände sehr gut. Trockener Sand ebenfalls sehr gut . Insgesamt besser als mein bis dato gefahrener Schwalbe ROB.Wenn die Haltbarkeit passt, dass wird sich zeigen und ich ergänze dann,...eine gute Wahl. Dico subito che il mio è un giudizio da neofita,ma una cosa che ho notato immediatamente è stata la maggior scorrevolezza rispetto alle vecchie gomme,lo si percepiva chiaramente.Usa lo MTB solo su asfalto,hanno un gran bel volume d'aria,questo crea un effetto ammortizzante,più grip e che dire, su asfalto sono una cannonata.Non ancora usate sul bagnato.La versione protection sembra avere una spalla bella robusta.Un pò rognose da far tallonare,ma con un pò di pazienza si riesce.Peso 589 gr. per la versione protection black chili da 27.5 pollici.
