Great food for dog and puppy
This food is very healthy for dogs. It contains organs. The size are great for small to large breed. This dog food can be used for puppy food. The smell is good it doesnt smell burnt like most.

Great for allergies!
My dog has done extremely well on this food moreso than the “be natural” salmon flavor from Instinct. Her poops are finally firm and tiny (meaning she’s digesting the nutrients well). That alone makes the higher price per pound worth it. Also her allergies are significantly better and she’s itching a lot less. Wasn’t excited about the peas but it replaces the grains and it seems to be better for her that way anyways. Lots of long lasting energy for an 8 year old GSD too so carbs and blood glucose levels are good. High calorie content is also a huge plus so she gets 1.5 cups twice a day (72lbs and active). Her muscles are nice and defined on it, no weight gain, and her skin and coat look fantastic with no hair loss. Also her ear gunk has cleared up a lot and that’s a first. She’s allergic to nearly everything under the sun and finding a food without various animal fats, eggs, other animal protein, or yeast is a challenge. This fits all of those requirements. She tends to be a vacuum when it comes to food and rarely has issues with eating, this one in particular she really likes and goes crazy for it. I wish it came in large breed so the kibble could be bigger but it’s not that big of a deal. Makes for good treats too. The smell isn’t overbearing like some other brands for salmon and it’s dry so little to worry about as far as mold or pests. I keep it in a dog food container and stays great. A bag lasts us about 4-5 weeks depending if I use some for treats and days we have a lot of activity planned like hiking or bikejoring for a few hours and I’ll feed her some extra in the morning and after. All in all my dog is doing better than I could have expected and the price is well within my budget. Actual allergy friendly foods tend to go for $70-$110 a bag so $60 is REALLY nice. And as always I’m appreciative of the subscription discount and prime shipping. Never had any issues with delivery or payment (unlike chewy).

Great Value Dog Food!
My very picky little Shih Tzu loves Instinct dog food! Instinct delivers a quality nutritional product and since my sweet little 5.5 pound girl is allergic to everything chicken I feel it is a blessing to have another healthy choice for her!

Good quality food, but inconsistent, and bag is heavy
This is a good quality dog food and my dog loves it and is doing pretty well on it, still having allergies, but I'm not sure what she's allergic to. The LID aspect of this kibble is very good. The ingredients are limited and it is one of the few foods that I can feed my dog with relative confidence that it won't be making her allergies worse. The issues I have with this dog food are that the bag sizes are either too small or too large. The small bag gets used up quickly and is more expensive, but the larger bag is heavy and I've hurt my back handling it. It's also a pain to fit it in the cupboard. And I've noticed the smaller bags have kibble that looks and smells better than the larger bags. The kibble in the large bags seems to smell more cooked/burnt/processed and is slightly darker in color. And the whole reason I switched to this brand was because it was supposed to be less processed and lightly cooked. So, either I get the small expensive bags that have nicer kibble or I get the larger slightly more affordable bags with the more questionable kibble that are too heavy for me. I will be keeping my eyes open for an alternative but until then I will feed this food to my dog since she is doing OK on it, and due to food allergies she is limited to what dog foods I can feed her. So, I am kinda stuck with this food for now.

I have a COMPLETELY new dog!!!!!!!!!!
I have a Golden Retriever who is allergic to EVERYTHING. Poor girl, it took me until she was two to weed out everything from her diet. She is allergic to all poultry, all fish, eggs, dairy, obviously corn, wheat, and soy, but also things like sweet potatoes and certain oils. She can eat the beef flavor ONLY of the Blue Buffalo canned (wet) dog food. I was feeding her that exclusively until I found this. This is the first dry dog food I have found that she can eat. Her goopy eye is all but dried up, she isn’t itchy anymore, and she behaves like a normal dog. For a long time we thought she was just naughty! She whined constantly and just couldn’t relax. It was all allergies. When you go and read the ingredients of dry dog foods, most of them have some type of poultry byproduct or fish oil in them. So what I do now is I feed her three cans of the Blue Buffalo Beef a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, and then I free-feed this dry dog food. (I have it out 24/7 with fresh water beside it.) For reference she is about 60lbs. For the canned food it says feed one can 10 lbs, but I prefer 3 cans a day + the dry food and it seems she does too. I’m so glad I didn’t give up on this little girl and I hope this review helps someone! I grew up with Goldens, and this is my second one as an adult, and I have never had a Golden with so many allergies before. It sounds mean, but I always thought people who said their dogs had all these allergies were being dramatic. It is tough, but so worth it when you figure it out and that little puppy girl is finally able to relax and live her best life! We had tried pheromones spray, pheromone diffuser, thunder shirt, melatonin, natural herbs, medication- nothing worked. Turned it it was her food.

Perfect limited Ingredient food for our boys
Our boys are on a limited ingredient diet. They’ve been eating this for years with no issues. We love that it has no dairy, eggs, potato, corn, wheat, soy and is grain free. There are very few alternatives out there this limited. We alternate between all the flavors and wish they would bring back the turkey flavor. The size of the kibble is good for our smaller boys. We give to our bigger boy as training treats. It's a bit pricy but we're happy we found this. Our boys love this and we’ve never had any issues over the years using this. This is a perfect limited ingredient dog food for us.

Unlisted Ingredients?
Update: November 2017 At first, the limited ingredient Lamb variety was fine, but a few meals into the new bag, my little Sheltie started vomiting and having stomach pains. I switched her to a home made beef and rice diet and she was fine again. So I tired the Instinct Limited Ingredient Lamb again and the vomiting started all over again. As the only food she is allergic to is poultry, I suspect that this food has some form of poultry added to it. Apparently, dog food manufacturers are not required to disclose exactly what they put in pet food. The bag does state that there may be traces of other things not listed. Whatever the issue, something in this food is making our dog sick. Previous Review: It's very difficult to find limited ingredient dog foods that don't contain poultry. We were purchasing Royal Canin's Limited Ingredient Venison (requires an Rx from the vet) until I saw a documentary showing where the venison came from - how I wish I could scrub those images from my brain! I also resent the marketing ploy that requires a vet's Rx to purchase a food that contains (very expensive) road kill and a few added ingredients - none of which are controlled substances. After looking at many positive reviews of Instinct Limited Ingredient Diet Grain Free, I ordered a bag. As was recommended by the vet, I am slowly transitioning by mixing the old and the new foods only to find that the dogs pick out the new Instinct food and leave the old food in their bowls. I feel like that says something important. They haven't had any digestion issues in the transition. The food is in small nuggets, which aids in digestion and is very helpful for my small dogs. Time will tell how they do on it, but so far it seems better than what we were feeding them.
