This author is the top expert in cults, mass hypnosis, propaganda, undue influence, and mind control.He explains the techniques used to manipulate people's minds to the point where you hardly recognize them anymore.Sound like anyone you know?Once I read this and other books of his, I could see EXACTLY what Q people are doing to manipulate the behavior of my fellow Americans and understand how their minds were being hijacked.As a behavioral biologist, I've used similar techniques with animals- for example if you want to bring an unknown dog into your house without your own dog becoming aggressive, I take my dog out with the other dog and run them side by side at a trot, making sure to keep them right together, side by side. Then I run them into the house together.It hijacks their deep brains to say, "If I'm running side by side with this dog, we MUST be in the same pack. So he's part of the pack". It has always worked.With humans, here are a couple of simple examples used by Hitler, Trump, anyone trying to manipulate and control:If you repeat something 3 times, then get people to chant it together, our deep tribal brains override our logical brains to say, "This is true. And it's a tribal truth. This is my tribe and believing this thing is essential to belonging to the tribe. Being ejexted from the tribe is too horrible to contemplate because human survival depends upon being part of the tribe. So my survival depends on believing this to be true. Therefore ai believe it so thoroughly that anything to the contrary is a threat to my survival."That is the deepest part of the primitive brain, so it overrides logic and education.Techniques like this are used by cult leaders, which includes national cults like dictatorships.These techniques and use of deep fears are used to get people into a place where they will kill whoever they're told to kill, even themselves in some cases.This is how the nazis accomplished their horrific objectives and how the Qanon cult is made to prolong the pandemic and make America weak and hard to defend.This is how our democracy is being taken down.As Breznev so famously said, "We will defeat America not with weapons, but from within."This book and any of Dr. Steven Hassan's books may be one of the most important books you'll ever read as will inoculate you against such influence and help you to understand what it happening and how.

-A Review of Pierre S. Freeman- This book is, in a way, an updated version of "Releasing the Bonds," which I have also reviewed. It presents a new protocol, the Strategic Interactive Approach (SIA), for assisting those who wish to help their loved ones gain understanding and potentially an exit strategy from the people, groups and beliefs, which have enslaved them. It is developed in response to the BITE model of a dangerous cult (B= Behavioral Control, I=Information Control, T=Thought Control and E=Emotional Control). In the cult which I was in for twenty-six years and have, by now, written extensively about, Behavioral Control was implemented by binding every moment of time with reading, occult exercises, sleeping postures, diet, lodge meetings and meditation type practices; Information Control by subtle prohibitions against outside reading or research (typical cult restrictions); Thought Control was accomplished by projecting an elitist spiritual authority onto the cult through a fraudulent portrayal of its history and Emotional Control by creating extreme subservience to the head of the cult, whose title is the Latin Term for Emperor, and extreme fear to leave the cult which basically defined you as a member of the only real spiritual organization in the Universe. While there is little time here to describe the SIA approach, I should say that it involves creating a collaborative atmosphere and strategy with the family or friends of the cult member, an essentially friendly approach that results in developing the kind of rapport necessary to talk rationally with the cult member. Hassan gives an example of Jim, a member of a pseudo-Buddhist cult, for which a camping trip is developed in which various friends approach him with different angles. One of those friends was an ex-member of the cult in question who lost his girlfriend to the cult leader, who preyed on female members of the cult. The interaction with his friends brought him to a conference with Steven Hassan, who showed him tangibly how some of the "miraculous" light he had seen `emanating' from the cult leader was the result of hypnotic suggestion. In my case, I wish some kind of strategic interaction had occurred like this- but aside from a few sessions of counseling, I had to handle my deprogramming myself, a hit-or-miss proposition that might have been aided significantly by this type of approach. I think this book could be a real asset for a family or group of friends afraid for their loved ones participation in a dangerous cult. I learned a lot about how intelligent people are drawn into a cult.

People need to be aware of the various types of destructive high-control groups around so as to be prepared to effectively deal with their insidious influence on themselves and their loved ones. I was born into the Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1966, and although I am now out mentally, all of my family are still deeply entrenched in it. Thank you so much for your important work on your books, which helps everyone affected by extreme undue influence to gain a better understanding. Any such religious group or organization which demands the denial of life-saving medical treatment for it’s members’ children and tears apart families just because one if its members no longer believes its teachings and wants to leave is certainly despicable and clearly dangerous, and should be held legally liable!
