Comprehensive.

Although I am a relative novice at bookbinding, I found this book both easy to use and extremely thorough. With a familiarity of only the basics of bookbinding and only a few bindings under my belt I was able to follow the instructions in this book to produce some lovely and remarkable books. This book is unique in that it answers the problem of how to get single page bindings to lie flat, a problem that vexed me until I happened upon SSSS.

This book has a huge number of book structures with instructions. However, it was somewhat disappointing because everything felt crowded together onto too few pages. There are so many newer books on the market that are so much more clear and do a better job explaining the steps. This book is way too expensive for what it offers. I donated mine to a specialized library where perhaps others will get use out of it.

This is a great book for printmakers or visual artists using heavy paper stock or mixed media. The coptic stitch diagrams are off-putting at a glance but as always Smith has simpler options that give you the confidence to try harder bindings. If I could only afford two of Smiths books this would be one of them. The other would be Volume 1 Non-Adhesive binding Books without Glue or Paste. If I could only afford one book then I'd borrow the money for the second!

If you are not bookbinding thick pages, don't buy this book, because there is no ideas for the regular paper !I would not recomend this book, only just to make the five volumes complete...

Ich habe nicht das Produkt empfangen. I have not got the book after almost a month of purchasing it. Clearly my purchase (and it was not a cheap book) has gone astray. Apart from a very correct e-mail, indicating me that I should wait for a whole month to pass so far nobody has offered any other explanation, nor has the carrier has revealed where my book can posibly be.Let me add that I have been purchasing many different items (books, music, records, tools, paper,...) from Amazon and their partners from USA, UK, France, Germany and Spain since 2008 and this is the first time that something of this kind has happened to me.Any help? Können jemand helfen mir? ¿Puede ayudarme alguien?

very helpful book. Very good explanations and lots of helpful pictures.Can highly recommend this book
