Will this work with knives which are ground to a 15 degree angle per side?

No, it won't. You're given 4 options on angles with no variance between settings. Frankly, I think this thing is a POS and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. Even the Lansky system doesn't give you more than 4 preset options on angles. I hear good things about the Work Sharp knife and tool sharpener but, they are quite a bit more expensive. My son is a custom knife maker and uses a bench grinder fitted with pieces of emery paper (like pages in a book) instead of a stone. His knives are scary sharp when he's done. He has good things to say about the Work Sharp sharpener and told me it would even work well for me (ouch). I plan on buying one but am undecided as to which of the two models offered I want. The more expensive is adjustable in 1 degree increments from 15 to 30. Stay away from the Chef's Choice sharpener! It will grind your entire blade away in short order the first time you use it unless you move as fast as a speeding bullet.

Can this sharpen USMC KA-BAR

Yes. The sharpener handles angles from 14-24 degrees, and the USMC KA-BAR has 20 degree angles.

will this hurt my brand new kabar

It shouldn't hurt your brand new Kabar knife if you run it straight and smoothly through the v notch slots (make sure it's on the desired angle setting) and don't apply too much pressure or the carbide and ceramic blades on the sharpener end up causing rips/scratches on the edge. The method for this tool should be a light, precise and gradual sharpening process so the edge is formed/honed to the desired shape and cutting angle. I also use this sharpener on $50 to $400 benchmade knives as well as 1060/1095 differentially hardened swords. It works well as long as you are patient and careful with the process. (some 2000 grit sandpaper helps too for smoothing the edge or appleseeding the blade geometry)

Es producto es caro pero la calidad del afilado es excepcional (si sabes lo que haces).

El MEJOR afilador de cuchillos que he utilizado en mi vida. Hay que saber como utilizarlo y saber a qué quieres optar. ¿Cuchillos de cocina? Menos grados. ¿Cuchillos deportivos para batonear madera? Siempre por encima de los 22° El fabricante dice que las piedras de afilado son de Wolframio/Tugsteno. Duras, son. Aun no han perdido la forma y he afilado unas 12 hojas entre cuchillos de cocina y navajas. Lo recomiendo al 100% pero si no sabes de composiciones de metales ni como sacarle filo a los cuchillos correctamente, te recomiendo que te pases por youtube para aprender.

Very nice and effective blade sharpener that is easy to use.

This is a very good blade sharpener. Before you buy this, you should be aware it's not a quick fix, just like any blade shapener, it takes some time to do, Also, it does create quite a bit of shavings from the blade, but that is to be expected most of the time. I do however really like how you can change the angle for it, that makes it very useful for different types of blades, the only issue I have is that as you pull it through you have to be mindful not to hit the plastic as the end of it, but that is just a error on my end, overall I think this is a very good product, espeaxily for its size as you can bring it with you in a backpack, so I definitely reccomenhd it, it was even able to for the most part a nic in my blade I had. I have included photos of the product, my blade, and the dust it creates.
