REVIEW: WD Blue SSD, SA510, 2TB 2.5", SATA, Read speeds up to 560 MB/s, Incl. Acronis True Image
Product arrived timeously and clearly good quality befitting the Western Digital brand image/promise. Once installed it works well, as expected.Install/usage instructions to install/use, etc. are not that great, got to say, and can be described as reasonably acceptable. No doubt at all that WD could/should have made the process a whole lot easier .... disappointing. As WD and SanDisk are now clearly part of the same group and it therefore needs to be clearly explained (PLEASE NOTE, WD!) that SanDisk is now the lead brand / product and that, for instance, management of WD products seem to clearly be via the use of SanDisk software, etc. Thus, a whole lot of "greyness" pervades around the implications of both these brand names existing within the same company.I would imagine that non-techie / newbies to SSD installation to replace their HDD's would find this process unnecessarily difficult. One has to ask the question why the greyness around this modern, popular SSD usage, etc. to replace one's older technology HDD's? Weird ...Deserved criticisms aside, as mentioned, the WD SSD is good value and, once properly installed, works well. Newbies can trust the delivery of this WD SSD but will be a little challenged in finalising the installation/usage/management process. As a new, working SSD therefore, once properly installed, I can recommend the quality, speed and expected reliability expected from the WD brand name/promise. Make sure, however, that you go through the frustrating, clunky process of registering the disk, otherwise any possible future failures will not be honoured.

Great drive.
Replaced my old struggling SATA SSD drive with this.. It worked a treat and I replaced my SSD in my laptop using the bundled software in short order. You went to the sight and followed instructions and did what it said. Writing this now using my new 1T drive!. I used a SATA external gantry and a converter caddy. It was really easy.

Faulty right out of box
Update: I choosed to risk again and purchased the same SSD model from WD as a replacement. The new one works with no issue. I cloned all data from the faulty one so there is no difference in the OS and drivers and this one does not disappear like the previous ssd after a few hours of use.Original review:The SSD stops working after 4-5 hours uptime, then the PC cannot detect it. After switching the PC off and on it works again for a few hours. Updating the firmware to 52020100 does not help however it intends to fix this issue. I would expect this from a cheap brand but not from WD. 1st I wanted to buy Kingspec SSD then I decided to go with WD as it supposed to be more reliable. Probably I will choose Kingspec after all as a replacement.

Don`t think about it, buy it
These drives are fantastic. I have used the SanDisk SSD Plus for years but they aren`t a patch on these. Why I didn`t make the changeover years ago I`ll never know.. The pc isn`t very old but the performance ha more than doubled. I have a WD Blue 500 gb in the computer as a second drive and a WD Blue 250gb in an external case for backup. Change to WD Blue. You won`t regret it.

I trusted my data to Western Digital and lost it all
These are terrible. I now have 3 of them, one for live data, another for its backup. These 2 have both failed and become totally unreadable. one failed during a data copy operation, so I bought a new one and replaced the dead one. The other failed during restoring from the backup to the replacement, but its was the backup drive that failed so I've lost both copies of the data - 800 Gb of valuable data. It's apparently a Western Digital firmware problem that needs updating before use, but how would anybody know that!. A complete disaster.

Perfect size for a C: Drive
Just the job very easy to fit and after a clean installation of Windows I noticed an improvement right away the PC boots up very quickly and there is now plenty of space on the C: drive I went for this model as it was an upgrade from my 1TB drive that I now use as an extra internal drive very happy with this purchase never had a problem with this brand
