Undaunted: Stalingrad is similar to other games in the series as far as gameplay goes. Sure, there are some good new mechanics, but if you have played Undaunted: Normandy you will have a general idea of what the battles will feel like and how they will play. What really sets Stalingrad apart is not what happens on the board during battles, but what happens BETWEEN the battles. Each mission is prefaced by a short story, and what happens during the game affects the way the story progresses as well as having effects on which special units may unlock. Taking a bunch of casualties means your favorite soldier may be maimed and unable to use certain actions, or his range reduced. Players are forced to confront the concept of Pyrrhic victory; maybe it's not worth it to win a single mission if it means your upgraded veteran sniper may lose an eye. All of this gives the game a sense of persistence, which keeps me thinking about what the next mission might be all day long. Will I get a chance to recapture the town square I lost, now that I've harassed the enemy platoon occupying it? I can't wait to find out! If you thought any of the previous Undaunted games were good, and you're wondering if this one is worth the price, the answer is absolutely! My only concern with this game is that it has ruined all of the other Undaunted games for me, because it's that good.

Gioco molto bello per chi ama i deckbuilding, con il classico sistema di gioco della serie Undaunted però a campagna. Consigliato per chi gioca in due, davvero divertente.

Mein Freund hatte Monatelang sich Youtube Videos zu Board Wargames angeschaut weil er sich unbedingt mal ein solches kaufen wollte, wusste aber nie so richtig womit er anfangen sollte, und hat sich deswegen nie getraut. Als Überraschung zu Weihnachten habe ich dann selbst recherchiert, und weil ich wusste, dass er Abwechslung, Storytelling und keine Würfelorgien mag, habe ich mich für Undaunted Stalingrad entschieden und... Wird sind absolut BEGEISTERT! Wir hatten zunächst etwas Probleme manche Regeln zu verstehen (aber einfach weil das Spiel auf Englisch ist und wir die Begriffe nicht kannten). Wir haben dann online eine Deutsche Ausgabe des Regelbuchs gefunden, und damit war dann alles fein. Die Qualität aller Materialien ist insgesamt sehr hochwertig, aber zwe kleine Mankos sind uns doch aufgefallen: 1. Die Einheiten/Spielkarten sind recht Stoßanfällig. Nach nur 4 gespielten Szenarien, wo man ja immer mal wieder Karten mischen muss, sieht man schon an manchen Karten angeschlagene Kanten. Wir gehen jetzt mit "sehr viel Vorsicht" beim weiteren Mischen heran um dem vorzubeugen. 2. Außerdem ist die Grafikqualität der Map-Karten doch leider etwas sehr "matschig". Wir sind beide gelernte Designer, und, gerade weil die Spielkarten SO schön designt sind, hätten wir uns gefreut, wenn die Map Karten etwas "schärfer" gemalt gewesen wären, sodass man wirklich etwas mehr die Gebäude- und Geländestrukturen erkennen kann. Das ist aber - insgesamt gesehen - nicht wert, das man hier einen Stern abzieht. Ich hoffe nur, dass der Hersteller Feedback aufnimmt und schaut, wie sie zukünftige Versionen vielleicht noch einen Ticken aufwerten können. Ich denke bei dem Preis darf das drin sein.

It is a very interesting and challenging game. I enjoy the concept of units being replaced by reserves and some units being upgraded with new skills. Each scenario can be replayed with different units.
