Zahtar Spice 2.0 oz - Zamouri Spices

THE TASTE IS AMAZING. I HAVE SEVERAL SPICES I LOVE TO USE BUT WHEN I DISCOVERED ZAHTAAR, I KNEW I COULD NEVER NOT HAVE IT AVAILABLE IN MY KITCHEN. I STARTED OUT WITH A REGULAR SIZE AND WHEN I WAS RUNNING LOW, WENT TO RE-ORDER AND DISCOVERED A LARGER JAR WAS AVAILABLE AND NOW I'M ALMOST DONE WITH THE 2ND ONE. I STARTED OUT USING IT ON EGGS, MIX IT INTO MY OWN SALAD DRESSINGS, THEN GOT ADVENTUROUS AND EXPERIMENTED USING IT ON JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING EXCEPT DESSERTS......BUT WHO KNOWS, I MIGHT BRANCH OUT. I NEVER USE SALT SO A FABULOUS SPICE IS VERY IMPORTANT.

After seeing the chefs use this on the program Chopped I gave it a try on baked chicken. Great, unique flavor! It would also be nice in a gravy. It contains Sesame seed, Thyme and Sumac. Nutty, light flavors.

This stuff is great for "Smashed Potatoes" - Take small potatoes and microwave till ready to each; Leave skin on but mash mostly flat on cookie tray; Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and of course Zahtar - bake around 20 minutes at 400 degrees - serve with sour cream - NICE!

Yum! We use it on roasted vegetables, what a delicous change! We had butter roasted snow peas with these seasonings at a fine dining restaurant, and fell instantly in love with it! Had to get it for ourselves! It gives a bright flavor, with citrus notes. Try it!

I used this to make za'atar for one of my Saudi friends and she said it was the perfect spice blend. Having never had za'atar myself, I can say it is very tasty, and I would not hesitate to order this again.

I'm learning a lot about these mid Eastern spices. This one was new to me, but was part of a recipe I wanted to try. The meal was incredible and I know that the Zahtar added a lot. I highly recommend this spice from this vendor.

The Za'atar I used at Le Cordon Bleu (made fresh) and prepackaged one used at the restos I have worked at are far better than this one. It's dried thyme, white sesame seeds, and sumac. As an addition to home cooking, say a roasted (brined before hand) chicken breast, I guess it works fine. But the flavor is almost stale and somewhat boring. Other items from Zamouri (Chermoula, Ras El Hanout, etc) were more flavorful, although nothing can beat making these spice mixes fresh.
