GRIPPING
Five Survive is a gripping, fast-paced thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Written by Holly Jackson, best known for her A Good Girl's Guide to Murder series, this book delivers another intense, twist-filled narrative that will leave you breathless. The story revolves around five friends who are on a road trip, only to find themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere, facing an unknown threat. Tensions rise as secrets come to light and survival becomes the only priority. The clever, high-stakes plot, combined with a limited setting, creates a tense atmosphere that makes every decision and action feel crucial.Jackson’s trademark suspense is evident here, as she masterfully develops the characters and their relationships, building a sense of trust and distrust as the story progresses. The alternating perspectives and use of short chapters keep the momentum high, making it impossible to put down.Overall, Five Survive is a thrilling, well-paced novel with unexpected twists and emotional depth. It’s perfect for fans of psychological thrillers and survival stories. If you love a good, suspenseful read with a mystery that keeps you guessing, this is definitely a book worth picking up! Highly recommended!

Young Adult Murder Mystery
I really enjoyed this book and at times I found myself forgetting it was a young adult murder mystery.I did find that the beginning was a little bit slow and took a little bit of getting into. Also in the early stages of this book I found I was getting strong feelings towards certain characters and that they might be what they seem to be which in the end I was right but what I didn’t see coming was the massive curve ball thrown in towards the end!Once we had got past all the setting of the scenes for building the characters I felt like the book picked up its pace and I found myself not wanting to put it down!I found that for a young adult book it was full of gory details which I love and kept me intrigued all the way through! This is my fourth book now by Holly and I love her work! I will deffo be keeping my eyes out for more of her work in the future!

Great crime thriller read
I've recently gotten into crime fiction, as an avid reader of romance and rom-coms and fantasy. You get the gist. So this was an unusual read for me but I'm so happy I came across it.It honestly takes a very talented writer to write up over 300 pages of just an 8 hour, one location time line. And before you think most of the words must've been description and setting, it wasn't. The author set the scene very well from the start of the novel, and the words and pages weren't wasted on visual description, but on the characters, their personalities and the thickening plot. The whole book was full of suspence, it surprised me, there was just so much tension and it was so engaging, I was just questioning everything.Okay, there's 6 main characters, Red being the protagonist. And the writer sets up the plot from the very start, you just need to look for the subtle hints, like Red's train of thought and how she's always jumping from one thought to the next, it was actually quite unnerving and made me think she had a condition until I realised it was just her defence mechanism and her way of deflecting, even from herself. I did get annoyed at how never stands up for herself and is such a pushover. But it makes sense due to her past.Everyone will come across Oliver and hate him so I don't see this as a spoiler. Trust me, you'll see. This book also has a dash of potential romance in it. A very small sprinkle. Like the potential to be so much more. So don't think it's suddenly a romance novel because it isn't. But that ending killed me! You'll see when you read it. I can't believe the writer ended it like that, I just needed a few more pages to see what happens next instead of interpreting it myself.Anyways, it's a good book. What are you waiting for? Settle down and get comfy, because you'll be reading it for the next six hours.

BEST BOOK IVE READ THIS YEAR!
I am going to write this review back to front to how I usually do because this book was THAT good!. I absolutely loved it and devoured the whole 391 pages in two sittings! Yes, thank you British sunshine for a glorious Saturday being able to sit in the garden and read!It had me gripped from the beginning right through to the end, so many twists and turns, so many oooh I wonder moments. Fantastic piece of writing that was able to make me want to flip the pages but not miss a word. Normally I get a bit carried away and skip descriptive paragraphs sometimes, just because they bore me when I want the story to get to the point, but this book, not a chance! Every.Single.Word. I even kept reading parts out to my fiancee because I couldn't believe what was happening. I mean seriously who as friends votes on whether one of you lives or dies? At the hands of a sniper with a kick ass aim no less! The story has six main characters, Oliver, Maddy, Reyna, Arthur, Simon and Red. All friends in some which way or another, brother and sister, boyfriend and girlfriend or just simply friends. When they set out on a spring break trip in a borrowed RV, none of them could have imagined they would be in the cross hares of a sniper. However, when the sniper reveals himself and asks simply for a secret that one of the friends is keeping, it sets all of them against each other. Who is holding out on who? There are quiet a few twists and turns and secrets revealed across the book which keeps it really interesting. Even at the very end there is an unexpected close to the book which I really liked.Red is my favourite character in the book, full of mystery and intrigue and the way her character is written makes you just not quiet sure about her and what she knows. Its clear there is a past that haunts her, but its not clear why.I won't spoil this one, its extremely good! I would suggest anyone to read it as it really is that good.
