Works great with an electric wench
I mounted a Badland 2000 electric winch on mine (search for best price), much faster than hand crank. I had to ream out one hole just a little for the second bolt to go in, I used a die grinder, drilling it out a little would also work. I was also able to attach a trailer hitch adaptor to the I beam on my log splitter. I can now lift heavy logs onto my splitter with ease and short lifting strap, or lift them for cutting. I can also use it on my truck. The crane is built very well, if you don't abuse it, it should last forever. I have recommended this to friends with log splitters. It breaks down to 3 parts so it's easy to move, store or set up.

Great little Hoist
Had a rough start with this thing first by it showing up absolutely wrecked and a few parts missing. Once I got that squared away and was able to use it, I really love it. Very strong and reliable. Two down side things is that they didn’t make the bottom supporting legs long enough. It’s on the highest level hole there is and it’s still about 2 inches short which creates an awkward slant when loading things. My truck isn’t even lifted so it would be nice if the legs were longer. The second thing is that when you have a load and you’re trying to lower it to the ground, you better hold on to that crank because if you let go, it spins and there’s no gearing to stop it until it hits the ground. I’ve almost caught the gear handle to my face a few times.Overall this thing has been very handy but a few things on it could be improved. Would recommend getting it.

Works great
This thing has been a huge help, I love to deer hunt but suffered a bad back injury which has required 2 surgery so far with a 3rd coming soon. I used to have my dad to help load or my nephew but 2 years ago it was going to be just me and my 7 year old son, who while tries his best to help, just can't lift a deer into the bed of my truck, yes there are other ways to do it, rope and a tree ect. But this thing works amazing, don't have to try to find a tree I can get my truck near, doesn't matter where I'm at, the legs adjust to uneven ground, the crank works easily, the pieces slide right into my truck and are easy enough to slide into my hitch and put together that my 7 year old does it in less than 5 min. He even runs the crank to lift the deer, then it spins so you can lower it right into the bed or your truck. Amazing it's been 2 years now and still works perfect and has loaded 4 deer.

You need this
I'm getting old lol the days of throwing a good deer in the truck or on the wheeler are not what they use to be. This things a back saver for the money I used it twice this year and it was money well spent. A little heavy and cumbersome for storing or in the back of truck but what this does will save your back. So far both times I used for whitetails I say to myself why didn't i get this years ago. If you hunt by yourself you need this. For whitetail you probably dont need ground braces. I have the big receiver on my wheeler but did not use this year but would work fine. If your thinking about getting this but think it's pricey just get it the time with a sore back and chiropractic appointments will make up for it.

Works well, but components are not appropriate to the use.
I have used this unit several times now and there are a number of things that could be better. I use it mainly for firewood pickup and processing. The manual winch is very slow, so moving anything from a distance is problematic. I recently purchased a Warn drill powered winch which I have been using with the crane assembly. It works well, but I need to find a proper bracket for the Warn. The pulleys are aluminum and the bolts holding them to the crane assembly are steel and threaded the entire length of the bolt. The bolts were cutting threads into the pulley axle hole. The pulleys were gripping the axle bolts too tightly and loosening them, even though attached with nylock nuts and one finally detached the nut and the pulley dropped out with a 400 lb ash round attached, bending the pulley support and the winch bracket. I replaced the bolts with the proper size of machine cap screws which have a section of smooth shank for the pulley to rotate on. If working near the weight limit of the unit, the vertical shaft flexes and makes it difficult to rotate the crane. I usually use the crane to drop logs into a detached trailer, and small rounds can easily be lifted into the truck bed. A long heavy load such as a deer or elk carcass would be problematic for loading into the truck bed. The carcass would require a second attachment point to raise the bottom half.

Great Piece of Equipment
This is a "double" review. 1. The hoist works exactly as advertised!!! I tested it last nite on my generator & it was phenominal!!! No more busted backs trying to roll it up ramps against an incline!!! 2. This is more of a statement directed at amazon (& yes, I will be making a complaint). When the box came I should have sent it back. It had been taped up like a 5 year old did it! An obvious return that I was charged full price for. But I need it so, what the heck. When I opened it everything seemed alright, when I took out the "swingarm" I read the warning label that said, "read all instructions before assembly & operation." Good idea. When I looked for the instructions for assembly....there were none!!! They hadn't been packed. Again, should have thrown it all in & sent it back but.... After about an hour of putting together a jigsaw puzzle of parts (really should only have taken about 1/2 hour. I had it together & I "think" I had all the parts. However, like I said, it works great just an issue with amazon.
