Awesome Gloves. Brought for my partner who boxes, muai thai, MMA. Went down a treat so anyone looking for a present. would say they are big gloves the actual size. So depending the build of the person 16 oz are really. bigger than a 16 oz twin straped gloves. if that helps anyone

The short version is, these are excellent gloves. Experienced boxers will probably love them. They're worth every penny and more. However, the key to owning and using these gloves is patience. They're very well made and use some heavy duty leather, so when new they're very stiff and hard. At first they were very uncomfortable to wear with my hands wrapped, and it felt like I had pissed off boa constrictors on my hands. For at least a couple days I didn't throw any power shots with them. After about 60 3 minute rounds on heavy bag, and 10-12 total hours sitting on them in my office chair (palms down and thumbs facing out), these are now getting to be very comfortable. They're stunning, and they make you look and feel like a million bucks when you wear them. I picked electric blue, and the picture on Amazon and the Cleto Reyes web page actually capture the color really well, whereas my picture makes them look a bit darker. You'll get compliments on them from people who know boxing and from people who don't - they radiate quality and passion, and everyone can see it. On the question of hand and wrist protection - I'm a power punching light heavyweight with 10 years boxing experience and a history of minor hand injuries and wrist sprains, and I don't think these are lacking protection. With any glove, you absolutely must wrap your hands, and I'm getting the impression many people don't. The only time I experience pain with these is when I hit one of those old rock hard heavy bags with power shots, which happens with any glove. But of course, you can always use a knuckle guard from Winning, Boxraw, Skull Tec, etc. or a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser under your wraps for extra knuckle protection, and add tape to your wrists for extra stability. You'll just have to be patient while the glove forms around the added bulk, because it might be uncomfortably tight for a bit at first. In closing, these are probably torture if you're a beginner. There are lots of great gloves around the $100 mark that break in much faster and will give you a better first glove experience. But for people who've been at it for a bit and know what they're doing, and have the patience to break gloves in, these are among the best out there.
